'Tis looking that way mate. Quite looking forward to it, providing I can find the right one. I seem to be asking quite a lot for the money I want to spend, nothing new there then! ;) But the search goes on...

Not sure I'll get 150 out of one - that'd be pretty blustery at that speed! I'm not getting a 'charger or turbo for one. Well, just get anyway

It'll add 'character' to the C&F meets anyway

Just back in the door from a few days down in Cornwall. Couldn't have had a better car for it, especially when the rain cleared up and the top went down :D

the road. Just check that the cam belt has been changed at 60K.

cam belt is changed on the 54k service , most Mazda engines are safe i.e. if the cambelt fails , no piston to valve contact will occur , the engine in the MX5 is safe

Honda S2000 out of budget?

Much better than an MX5 if you can afford one.

Hmm

Having driven both, I would say faster does not automatically equal better. MX5 is about driving feel, balance, throttle steerability and feedback. S2000 felt a bit one dimensional by comparison, especially the earlier ones where the steering is pretty numb. Later ones are better but less than brilliant for communication. Cracking engine but nowhere near as entertaining if not being caned round to 8K+. I found the MX5 to be a much better steer from a driving point of view. More exploitable and more communicative.
