Got the Fabia back

Featured Replies

Thanks to Auto Performance Services (APS) in Brackley, my car is back and it seems to be behaving itself nicely.

There is still some remaining minor stuff BUT there is no more (new) crud appearing, and the map was tweaked too.

Awaiting some electronic versions so I can post them up with results.

Will try to arrange a visit to JKM in the near future but it looks like the Superchips RR is pretty much on par with the JKM setup in that standard ones were hitting 145, the Custom Code Phase 1 I had hit 177 bhp and 386Nm (sorry it doesnt show lbsft), now it is 201 bhp/419Nm aka 309 lb/ft.

Still awaiting some parts to take that up a bit further but I need to run in first ;)

Big thanks to Andy, Nathan, Paul and Ed. I'm quite convinced flushing the car was becoming a tad tiresome :P

Cool. Good luck. And fingers crossed.

A nice 24bhp increase

Yeah - before someone jumps in about Custom Code vs Superchips ;) just to clarify the CC was a stage 1 not custom for the car, and I think they would have probably hit similar numbers etc :)

Good good, good man. Enjoy it, and fingers crossed it lasts!

Oh, and a  for APS too! :)

So whats left to "complete" the car then fella?

Awaiting injectors, Forge is working on their short shifter, then a few minor cosmetic things like cupra splitter, antenna. Also the EGT sensor & stuff needs to be fitted still.

There is a little film of oil left so every 1000 miles or thereabouts it's gonna have to be flushed still :)

Interesting :)

Any comments from Superchips on if more is left to come from the current setup?

It is currently set on the fairly safe side - dunno how much higher it would be on different rollers, these are the MAHA ones which VW Racing uses for their benching.

Based on a PD150 with the same injectors I'm still awaiting, it ought to push it up by another 20-30 bhp with reasonable smoke levels & boost. Depending on whether I have time to be 'there' for the tweaking it could be pushed up a bit more I'd imagine ;)

Where has this oily film come from??

Good news Mate - enjoy enjoy enjoy!

Cheers

The oily film is the remainder of what's in the system, unlike last time where proper crud was building up, this time it is not getting worse and it's survived a RR session or so ;) - just gonna have to keep flushing it every once in a while to get it completed now :)

Scans now added to the original post, also here if you don't wanna scroll up :P

Again noting CC1 was done for SMIC/std turbo ;)

A nice smooth step up from that, looks like the curves are fairly smooth too.

Just as a heads-up, CC1 is definitely quite aggressive as it is hitting near the top end of the quoted figures from JBS, which for a stage 1 generic map is not bad at all, and yes it is smooth :)

i like the way it holds onto the power longer through the revs , good luck with it WW_VRS , it seems like ages since you first had the problems

Thats the beauty of the stage 2 turbo. It can hold the power beyond 4000rpm compared to the standard turbo.

If tweaked you should get your power to around 225bhp ish.

Heres a mates car with the same turbo final outcome.

uk-mkivs - Superchips PD150 hybrid turbo remap

Lovely printouts mate  - wonder what will happen with the new injectors plus a remap?

My bet is a stable constant 240 bhp in the end.....

nice!:D

Guess what - it's broken already

Same problem again, I drove it for less than 200 miles and it's overheating again, more gunk.

It was fine the first day when I gave it a good running, today however I drove fairly fast but I got stuck in slow traffic, temp shot up a little, then went back down, then later on it decided to keep going up. Pulled over, plenty of gunk again and no circulating water again :(

Gutted is putting it mildly, I have to get to the office Monday and Tuesday :(

You aren't having a lot of luck mate are you.

Gutted! :( Time for new engine now?

oil cooler or block or head ? very odd indeed

i think its time to think about a different engine , as there seems to be something wrong with the one you've got , that even APS are having difficulty finding the fault

I know where there is a nice low mileage TFSi :P

It's gonna be the block now - the rest has all been replaced already :(

Was just gonna say how good it must be to have the car back, but then I read it's broken again :( Hopefully will be sorted quickly and without too much more expense!

Chris

anyone have a lead on a serviceable block for WW?

If this costs me less than a grand it would be a miracle unfortunately :(

Sssssshhhhhh - Hayley's on the forums now so you have to divide all actual costs by 10 ;)
