Hi everyone. I've had my Skoda vRS (black) now for a good year since getting rid of my Impreza and would love to mess about with the look of it. I'll definitley be asking badly spelled versions of things that have already been asked so bear with me.

1st question is...

Is it possible to get my vRS to look like the 2003 WRC car and if so, what devastating effect will it have on my already sky high insurance (25yrs old, 1xSP30 1.5yrs ago, professional, homeowner)? I would also like to make it 4WD. Is this realistic?

Any input would be gratefully recieved.

Our man in South Yorkshire.

Hello Mr Anderson, how does the RS compare to the imprezza???

  • Author

Well. Less responsive but shed loads more comfort and with comparable normal driving experience.

I would also like to make it 4WD. Is this realistic?

This has been discussed before and it would cost a fortune and i'm sure they said the floorpan was different in a 4WD

Has anyone tried a Focus RS? How do they compare?

Welcome to Briskoda, MrAnderson.

I'm afraid to say that you would have been better starting from one of the 4x4 models and then adding the vRS bits than the other way round. Methinks FWD is where you'll be at, unless you have POTS of cash to spare.

Hi, MrAnderson. :D If you insure with LiverpoolVictoria then you can mod your car as much as you like (with the exception of increasing the engine capacity) without it affecting the premium you pay. As for 4WD, even if you could get the parts to fit, the cost would be astronomical. Have a look here for the prices of just some of the parts involved.

Ahhh, yes - how is the DIY 4x4 project going, Denis?? :D

Need to do a spot of overtime to fund it, Howard. (A bit tricky given that I am retired...) :(

Thanks y'all for the input!

Sorry but I've gotta go. A mate of mine is about to be on a touch of Frost. Or that's what they said when they filmed it. If he is on he's the bloke in the dog track called Joe. We'll see.

TTFN.

Start collecting those Tesco clubcard points now, Denis!! ;):D

They pay you to sit in the park feeding the ducks Denis? :D

How much do they pay counting traffic at the roundabout? Keep up the good work Denis ;)

Oh, and welcome Mr Anderson.

So it won't be ready in time for the track day then?? :D

to make your black vRS look like the WRC edition you'll have to spray the car white, spray the wheels white and then cover it in WRC skoda stickers. (can you actually buy these anyway !?).

Alternatively you could just buy a WRC spec spolier for the back and spray that black.

the only other differences to the vRS is the WRC has washers for the headlights iirc.

If your insurance is high try Liv Vic or Tesco's, i got quota just under

Actually, the reason for the headlamp washers is that the WRC has Xenon lights. There are some other subtle differences to the vRS too, but I can't remember them off the top of my head.

ESP, heated seats....can't remember the others differences.

Extra Sensory Perception!!!!!.....Blimey...a car that knows whats coming next  :bike: :eyecrazy: :bowdown1: :D

I recall a thread recently that mentioned a different suspension set up...

Pardon my ignorance, but is not our Mr Anderson talking about making his car look like THE WRC car (that driver and co-driver travel on loose gravel tracks at high speed around some dark, dank forest at 7am on a January morning), not the WRC limited edition pretend rally car model that is little different from the standard vRS?

Lee

Anyway, welcome Mr Anderson to the real world......

Speak to Erik at AAT......he'll probably be able to get some Octy WRC replica body parts.

Does a rather nice Furby WRC body kit.

Ya man LeeBoy is right. I want to try and replicate the look of the actual WRC, dark forests, icy gravel tracks, car. Come up with a few ideas as regards spoilers and wheels. Just really looking now for a roof vent and bonnet vents. Then a respray or I might try a black WRC look. I'm quite happy with the front spoiler as I think it's gonna be a pain in the ass to find a replica for that. After the body is done then I can get down to some chipping and stuff. It's not setting foot on a track so it doesn't need to be super fast. Just about 212 to 220 Bhp would be nice. Would I need any further mods the car to make it reliable and safe or would it be OK with the standard parts? :D

I have a feeling that the vRS is reliable and safe as it is, although it may be less so once you have finished tarting it up. You may need to beef up the brakes, though, depending on how and where you intend using the 212-220bhp, and a sump guard could come in handy if you are thinking of lowering the suspension. Sounds an exciting project - and one which fellow Briskoda members will follow with some interest.

Mr Anderson, welcome to our world :wavey:

Might I suggest you talk to Erik@AAT. He will be able to help you. Look in the links section for either AAT or Advanced Autosport.

As to modifying it, try this thread http://www.briskoda.net/forums/showthread.php?t=7239
