Which fuel?

Featured Replies

I'd not go back to 95, go for Sainsbury 97 instead, or similar, till they get Tesco back to normal.

Really? Ok. Have to go past a Sainsburys on the way home.

Cheers

I have the 2.0FSI and it seems to notice the difference between 95 and 98/99. I know it's said that it takes a couple full tanks before the ECU adjusts but if I fill up with normal 95 the car almost immediately sounds noisier, and feels rougher and like it's got no oomph. I'll be sticking to Tesco99 I think as it's only 5p more per litre while the best Shell I have found wants 7 or 8p more per litre for their super stuff... greedy basts.

Thorney Motorsport Fuel Test Results

Theres some dyno results on v power, ultimate, tesco and 95 ron here from an independent motorsport company.

Nice to have a gut feeling confirmed scientifically!

So when Skoda say, for example, the 2.0FSI puts out 150bhp, they ought to say what fuel that is based on. Or to put it another way, does using Tesco 99 make the car a little over 150, or do you need to be on 99 octane to reach 150bhp?

From "the book", and fuel flap label, I assume they get their 150bhp figure on 98.
