The New Fabia And Those Wet Footwells

Featured Replies

Do you think/hope that skoda have done work on stopping the leaks in the new Fabia.

How can they possibly correct a problem they deny was ever there in the first place... hmm?

new car = new problems!

The Leon and the Golf also had problems with water ingress and so I have my doubts.

How do Skoda expect customers to go back if they don`t rectify problems we have found.

The old Leon and Golf did but they work on the same design, new MK5 Golf doesnt suffer with leaks as it has a rather novel approach to door construction.

And Skoda do acknowledge an issue with them as there have been many bulletins on the matter.

Skoda does ackowledge an issue with them? Not what the snippy Customer Services guy said to me. And frankly, if a manufacturer knows about a design flaw causing 'water ingress', it's a sad state of affairs if they then expect the customer to pay for it to be rectified (and no the 3 year warranty argument isn't good enough - my vehicle was garaged during its first three years, and only started leaking once I took ownership, as I street park).

Hi lightspout,

i'm in exactly the same position - bought my Fabia in Oct when it was just 3 years old and had been garaged all it's life - had it 4 months and noticed the wet floor starting last week - contacted Alex Lawrie Liverpool my nearest dealer - they said try Skoda, same thing with supplying dealer Horners Manchester. Emailed Skoda today as I prefer the option of having a record of my communication - no reply as yet.

There's simply NO WAY a car should be expected to do this anyway within 3-4 years, regardless of warranty - it means the car is not 'fit for purpose' (mines only done 26000 miles as well!) and therefore Trading Standards, etc. might have to be involved if they try the brush-off. The other crazy thing is Skoda should be putting all of this right for themselves re: their 10 year corrosion warranty - if not we'll all have rotting floors before then and the claims will be massive. I'll post when I know more.

lebowski.

According to the dealer I spoke to this morning, there's a TI out on the leaking doors at the mo. They're being instructed to repair all 4 if anyone brings a car in with a leaky door. They're well aware the problem exists.

Yes there is a kit to repair, issued by Skoda, but you gotta pay if you want a dealer to supply and fit once the 3 year warranty has expired... go figure! Alternatively, purchase and fit yourself, vis.

There's a host of other tips and fixes on this site, so thanks to the author!

Regarding corrosion, I have rust on a seat rail, but apparently this is caused by wear and tear - if you adjust your front seats, the paint on the rails will come off and HE PRESTO - it will rust. Again this is the owner's problem if not reported within 3 years... doh!

I teach Business at College and a Law colleague has supplied me with the relevant legislation, etc. to show that this really isn't on - Still waiting for a reply from Skoda who I emailed on Mon/Tues then I'll whack 'em with the bad news - I'm not having it - will naturally post on any progress (i.e. come back with my tail between my legs probably!) - cheers for info on kit.
