It was already in port. Always worth asking what the spec (options etc) of ones already in the country but not already reserved by a dealer. You may need to compromise slightly but if it gets you the car sooner...

As it happened I got the exact spec I wanted too...

:orb_upset never thought of that at the time. I never really went out to buy a car it just happened

I ordered mine (vRS TDI hatch) with a load of extras including heated seats, around 1st Feb. It is due to be built next week with delivery 3rd week March.;)

I have seen from other threads that Leasing Company orders seem to take ages; perhaps there is congestion in their internal systems before the order gets to Skoda UK.

That's interesting. I am getting mine direct from the dealer. No leasing company involved. Ordered on 1 Feb. Still no date of delivery which I am a bit annoyed about. But, fingers crossed I may get a March delivery aswell. Not sure I can wait till May!

I ordered my 2.0tdi L&K estate January 10., it will be delivered next week. This is in Norway, but I guess we're all in the same productionline?

Maybe it depends on what kind of car you are ordering, estate or hatch.

I placed an order for the vRS TDi Estate, and was told to expect a 12 week wait, which would have meant delivery at the end of May. Perhaps, the factory has certain weeks when they build the hatchback and others when they build the estate. If you catch it just wrong, then whatever you've ordered could take longer. Not sure if this is what happens, but it could be.

I've been lucky enough to find a car in the dealer network which almost exactly matches my spec., and I can take delivery in the 1st week of March. It's also worked out well for me, as my company has just changed the car policy, and come April 1st I wouldn't be able to afford the vRS with the way the allowances have changed.

You might still be able to ask your dealer to search the dealer network, as you could probably still cancel your order and take a car that is already in the country.

If it's a new VRs he's after then searching the dealer network is unlikely to find one - dealers typically won't have brand new cars sat waiting just in case someone comes along and it is the model and spec they are after.

It's the VAG import compounds the dealer needs to search - they all have access to the same system to do this.

I know for a fact there is a silver VRs sat in port at North Shields (Newcastle) as I live near it and have a good look when I go to the JJB. It might already be reserved though...

I disagree. My vRS was found as a result of a dealer search. Given that the new registration is imminent, a lot of dealers have cars already in stock in anticipation of demand at the registration change.

All it takes is a dealer transfer request, and the car can be sent to your local dealer.

Having said that, I reckon that the import compounds would also be a great place to start.

Well mine is through a leasing company, and the order was confirmed on thursday.

Spec is;

vRS TDi 170

Hatchback

Black Magic

Dual zone air con, jumbo box and rear electric windows

but i dont mind waiting, ish.

Here's how it went for me.

Cycled to dealer, haggled on price for 5 minutes, dealer says what colour. I said, black, silver or blue with these toys fitted. Dealer says "fancy that race blue one over there ----->". I say "yeah", shook hands, done :)

Now I look back, it was pure fate, I only called into the dealer because I was cycling past on a training ride! I get it at 08:00 on Thursday, going to spend the first couple of hours supaguarding it (bought a pack of supagard off eBay) if it's not raining :)

Think my problem is the spec I have ordered. Got a bit carried away and ticked all the boxes! Dealer didn't reckon there would be the following car in the network and would have to be factory built:

Race blue VRS petrol hatch

Xenons

18"

Duel climate/jumbo box/rear electric windows

Active headrests

Curtain airbags

Rear parking sensor

maxi dot

sat nav

rain sensor wipers/light assistant/auto dipping mirror

Cruise control

Hence, a bit of a wait. But I am sure it will be worth it!

Wow, that's one seriously specced up car! The RRP would be quite something when you include expensive options like SatNav! Hope you like it (you will).

Dave.

Dave,

Saw the 'adverts' regarding supgard at the dealers also overheared a sales pitch on it too. Was never mentioned to me when I ordered my car. Is it that good and worth me investing in some. What's the deal with it?

Cheers,

M
