Octy 4x4 fuel help plz

Featured Replies

I have a 2001 Octy 4x4, that has been remapped by I.P. I would like to know what fuel I should be using, or what I can use. On the filler, it says use either 91 or 95 ron fuel, but since having had it remapped, can I use 98 Ron fuel? Thanks

V Power or similar would be ideal Charlie.

Not sure I can get V-Power here, (Germany) But I know they do the super unleaded (98 Ron). I think I will have to give it a try, just hope it will not cause any dammage!

Cheers

I normally use 98 or 99 RON for my remapped 4X4. I had a variable boost controller fitted by Jabbasport so that I can revert to 95 RON should the need arise.

Mine only has the Basic level Impossible performance Remap, I have used 95 Ron for ages now, Just wondered what 98 Ron would do??

If you've been using 95 then the car would probably apprecite a little drink of 98 and you ought to get a little bit more go out of it.

I do the same with mine. 98 RON minimum, otherwise the risk of detonations is high.

OFF-TOPIC: DGW, could you share more information regarding the variable boost controller? Thank you!

Using higher octane fuel won't cause damage but using too low an octane fuel can.

Stick some 98 in and see what you think, if you can then do a throttle body alignment as this will speed up the learning process, otherwise it may take a couple of tanks full before you get the maximum benefit.

Jabbasport designed a variable boost controller for use with their custom remaps of the 1.8T engine. The controller consists of a small rheostat with nob fitted on the dash, and an electronic circuit board wired between that, the fusebox and the engine ECU. Boost can be varied progressively between the maximum remapped figure and near standard by adjusting the rheostat. I know of one member who bought one privately off another member and managed to fit it to his Jabba-remapped car. However as far as I know it has only been available for fitting by Jabbasport themselves in conjunction with a remap, and it is not currently listed on their site.
