Volkswagen Polo G40

Featured Replies

I very nearly have invested 1K into making my G corner well - FK Konigsport Coilover setup with poly bushed ARB and TCA's all fitted with brand new VAG topmounts, with only some brace bars and either wishbones or g-laderseite ARB blocks left to go on - then ill be setting the height spot on and having it cornerweighted - and if that doesn't help it do better then ill be annoyed!

A friend slapped a G engine in a Mk1 golf to have 200 Bhp and a car that handles like its on rails - something i dont want to do as the mk3 polo is such an underestated chassis that people dont think it could go fast...

It does go well now but i have real trouble if the wheels aren't straight getting power down mainly exiting corners - something RWD is all about...:D

I don't wan't a BMW and i dont like anything else that i can insure right now - even the newer Mk5 Polo GTi's are nearly the same to insure as my modded G - and for the money i dont think you could have much more fun

I've recenlty been looking at Bora TDi's and thinking buying one as a daily to save some

Nice cars , I saw a minter over in Germany circa 1993 at Hockenheim , on swiss plates with non standard wheels (very euro - dished ones) A full roll cage and 2 race seats , in met blue , in fact I took a piccy of it but I cannot find it now , dammit lol

I had a red G40 and loved it. It used to surprise so many people - the problem was that I always felt I had something to prove in it, because most people didn't know what it was (in fact there were only 500 made for the UK)...

Went on the rolling road days and various other events with "Club G40", in fact I still seem to be in the 'Old Skool' section of the Owners page on The Polo G40 Website !! Sold it to some lad from Derby who took it up to around 200bhp, would have loved to have gone in it with that power....it was about 130bhp when I had it so the difference must've been incredible...
