Drivers Door switches

Featured Replies

anyone know how to get at the drivers door switches the ones in the arm rest.

how does it come appart?

one of my window switches is playing up.

You need to buy a cheap, long-ish screwdriver with a thin slotted blade ~ 3mm . Cheap, 'cos next you've got to curve it slightly by bending the blade (like a banana- after which treatment its use as a srewdriver thereafter is severely limited!).

Anyway, armed with your new 'special tool' you should now look underneath the door pull/arm rest and lo! there is a small square hole just right for poking the aforementioned tool into. Gently feel around with it, pushing gently upwards and, with a bit of luck and judgement, you will release the plastic clip on the switch panel which secures it to the handle body. (If you need to remove the rest of the door pull, the rear top cover pushes forwards to release)

All this is explained in the Haynes Manual, but don't expect the photos in there to help much. At least it will be easier the second time as you will know what the clip arrangement looks like by then!

Happy poking!
