Anyone LPG'd their 1.8t?

Featured Replies

Bengie/Rone, many thanks for your responses.

Perhaps Ford run their LPG conversions on the rich side to ensure reliability? I'd certainly be worried if I spent £2000 extra on a conversion and lost 25% mpg as it starts to negate the cost of the conversion.

Hmm, I'm still tempted, but diesel is starting to look more attractive again!

And you can negate the cost of that by seeking out cheaper LPG - lpg price varies proportionally more than UL. For instance, flogas depos - rather than a forecourt are usually much cheaper - my local dep costs 37PPL - which is somewhat less than the 48PPL that you will pay at the forecourt.

For instance if you sign up for Go-Autogas - you can search the cheapest in your area - the cheapest showing across the UK at the moment is 32PPL. Shame it's nowhere near me!

The way I understand it, the gas system follows the computer for the petrol system and adjusts as needed. There is no running rich per se.

Reliability is simply defined by a good installation.
