hey i have just bought a '52' plate Red octavia VRS, at the moment its compleaty standard. What is the best induction kit for noise and also for power gain? how loud is the bailys dump valve ?

Do a search and you'll find several threads on the merits of various induction kits. The general consensus is that there will be minimal power gain, if any, with an induction kit but you get a nice induction sound .

I have a Carbonio and it makes a great noise, and the Bailey DV30 makes quite a loud noise combined with the CAI.

On its own the Bailey is slightly noisier than standard but not boy-racer "whooshy".

Ive just had the Carbonio CAI and Forge 007 DV setup on my vRS, loving the noise they produce together.

No noticable powergains, if any at all.

A very subtle noise.

Warning, though. You might get fed up with the noise eminating from an atmospheric dump valve.

I have had Forge, HKS and Bailey.

Avoid HKS - they sound so loud, well the one I had did as it had some sort of swirl thing built into it. Fine on a Skyline, perhaps...

Anyway, the Bailey sounded great, but was pretty loud.

Forge does the job, but I don't think the atmospheric version sounds anywhere near as good as the Bailey.

I've got a recirculating Forge on my car now as it's plenty loud enough and a lttle more discrete.

Please note that you don't get VFM performance wise with dump valves. The main benefit is that they are fully servicable and you can replace springs to cope with different turbo's/ higher boost.

The main power gain on a std VRS will be the re-map, so I'd personally do that first and maybe think about freer flowing exhausts plus an uprated air filter.

I'd personally get the mods on first, and then get it mapped as you'll get the FULL benefit from them.

  • Standard car remapped = 215-220bhp

  • Car with downpipe and cat, full system and induction kit = 235-240bhp.....and nicer driving characteristics...

how about the K&N typhoon or the Pipercross VIS ? whats the best between these? does the Bailys Dump valve need a fitting kit as well or just out with old in with new?

TBH I've got a bailey one fitted to my 4cyl car and that is very loud. On the V8 I have two forge twin piston BOV's. They are much quieter although I think that is down to them being the twin piston type. The Forge ones are very nice piees of kit as well.

I know it's not skoda but just my experience of BOV's
