I think part of my instument cluster isn't working, the bit in the middle of the speedo and rev counter, the manual refers to it as the information display of which there are 2 variants (small and large). I'm sure it's supposed to give warnings like on my friends passat. Although I may be wrong and that part of the display isn't required on my model as the outdoor temp, trip averages etc are displayed via the digital clock display under the rev counter by using the rocker button on the windscreen lever.

Can anyone help or point me in the right direction?

It was an optional extra - maxi-dot display?

Mine (same year and model on info given) has 4 LCD displays:-

1) Small one in the rev counter, which displays time of day, outside temperature, mpg, range speed data.

2) Small one in speedo, which gives mileometer and trip data.

3) Big one in stereo, which only seems to do stereo data.

4) Big one in climate control, which gives climate settings and outside temp data.

Never seen a warning on any of them, not even when the alternator died.
