Scooby to Skoda!

Featured Replies

Well, due to a change in personal circumstances, the Scooby has to go and I'm looking for a nice cheap (6k budget!), economical, reliable replacement with a few mod cons :-) After looking at the alternatives, I settled on getting a Fabia TDI which seemed to meet all my requirements and in Elegance trim was very well specced, as well as having a good driving position and a nice pokey engine with a bit of tuning potential.

Trouble is the Elegance TDi seems to be very rare, although after a couple of weeks looking, my luck was in and I found a nice Y-reg 2001 black one in mint condition with an Alpine 6-cd changer and head unit, at a Japanese car specialist. Got a good trade in for the Scoob and pick up the Fabia on Monday or Tuesday! :-D

Chris (soon to be exScoobyChris ;-))

Chris, welcome to Briskoda.

Any questions on Fabia TDI should be aimed at Jason who posts as Devonutopia. Hes curenty the owner of 2 although one is an ever increasing kit as a result of "over modding"

Are you Southampton Based per chance, If yes weve met at a few of the Scoob meets before I bought the Skud, used to have a STI 3 Wagon

Welcome Chris !

Hi Stuart - thanks for the reply. Yep am Southampton based and I think we last met at the Scooby Treasure Hunt which Jon did so well in in his "1.4 standard Octy" ;-) Do remember seeing your Sti-3 at Goodwood too.

Here's the Scoob that's going.

Talk about 'deja-vu'

I very nearly bought a stone grey Fabia TDi Elegance for the same reason - Impreza 99MY Turbo costing too much and test drove the car. The dealer also happened to have a 4x4 Turbo estate Octavia (advertised as a 2.0 Ambiente!) which I decided to buy instead !

No regrets after 1 year with Skoda.

What's with all these "personal circumstance" stories appearing on Briskoda of late?

It would be nice to have some feel-good ones instead soon, like "I recently won the lottery and have now set my sights on a brand-new Skoda - any hints or tips?" :D

BTW, welcome Chris!

I thought owning a Skoda was like winning the lottery, Im certainly having more fun & feel financialy better off than the days when I had the Scoob
