Superglue Removal

Featured Replies

I had a bit if an accident in the car today. I spilt a small amount of superglue onto the dash ( on flat area just above hazard light switch). I've tried acetone (nail varnish remover), white spirits, soapy water and nothings working. When it dries out it leaves a white stain about an inch square on the dash.Any other ideas anyone? Most annoying.Regards David

Try to get hold of some "skin release agent" (or similar name) specifically for superglue - some hobby shops carry it. As the name suggests, it's for unsticking you if your finger (or whatever) gets stuck to something, but I don't see why it shouldn't work on your dashboard.

It works by being even "stickier" that superglue, so it displaces the superglue bond. Here's the clever bit, though - it doesn't set, so once the superglue has been removed, it can be washed off.

Another suggestion - if you can get under an edge, try peeling it away. Superglue has quite a low peel strength.

Best of luck!

How about a dremel?

Dave, i had a similar thing when an air freshener leaked on the dining room table...

As for superglue -

A cloth dipped in vinegar will work for normal glue, but i'm not sure about superglue. Could be worth a try.

Or....MC2? :rubchin:

Denis, hence why I suggested:

It's what I used to get superglue off my dashbord.

Denis' date=' hence why I suggested:
