New Clutch

Featured Replies

I have just enquired about a new clutch for my 52 plate 1.9tdi elegance.

I was told about a mass fly wheel or something that is in the clutch and that it was imperitive to change this when ever I had the clutch changed and that it would then cost over £800.00, however I could have it changed with out HELP can any one throw any light on this matter.

Plus is a new cambelt cost of about £400.00 abotu right on price.

Yo Mr Baker where did you have that done was it a Skoda dealer or else where?

It is recommended practice to change the dual mass flywheel (DMF) on these VAG power units when the clutch is worn out. This is a major expense - I know Valeo make a solid flywheel replacement for the larger PSA vehicles, but you would have to check for VAG. Maybe LUK would be a good place to start looking.

Another depreciation factor, I'm afraid.

I am afraid that I don't have anything to do with the Dealer's, IMO they are only 'fitter's' and not mechanics.

I have a little garage out in the Costwold's that do all the work for me and he has done all my VAG cars.
