Eejit motorcyclist

Coming home from work today. Staggered junction in a built-up area, a bit like this:

_____|________

''''''''''''''''''''|'''''''''''

I'm second in a queue at the bottom minor road waiting to turn left onto the main road. A bus is waiting on the top minor road, also turning left. The road layout is such that the bus needs the whole width of the major road to make its turn.

The major road is clear, so the car in front of me flashes the bus to make its turn - I would have done the same had it been me. Then along comes a motorbike up the right of the queue I'm in, turns left across the front of the car waiting at the give way, and nearly finds himself under a bus.

Did he think a crash hat made him invincible?

They're not called organ donors for nothing !!!

I have to admit they are damn rude. they expect that because they have a bike they can go all the way down a queue and be at the front....that isn't a problem to be honest but it's the way they do it. it's so god damn dangerous!

People don't seem to realise that a bus has a long fixed wheelbase hence needing quite a lot of space to manoeuvre.

We have a lot of unnecessary minor scrapes at work due to car drivers misjudging distances, and thinking buses can shrink at the touch of a button.

Also technically it is unlawful to reverse a pcv ( passenger carrying vehicle ) whilst carrying passengers.

So think on peeps, not all bus drivers are morons:thumbup:

did you read a different first post?

were on about MOTORCYCLISTS not bus drivers...... although we could add them into the pot for a bit of fun eh grumpy?;)

I have just been out in my car an some **** in another car pulled right out in front of me, causing me to slam my brakes on. Did he think he was invincible just because he was in a tin box? Further more he never said sorry, therefore car drivers are so rude and so dangerous.

I read the post properly, I was just stating that buses need a lot of space to manoeuvre, which a lot of people don't seem to realise.

Thus the Eeejit motorcyclist may not have been aware of why the cars were stopped, and thus may have made a genuine mistake.

Although I doubt it.

Does that clarify things sufficiently?

and thinking buses can shrink at the touch of a button.

Eh? Have you not seen the Knight bus in Harry Potter?

:P

Yes, but they don't fit under the low bridges in Yorkshire, they only reduce in width not height:D

Ahh I see, thanks for letting me know.

I'd say there was no way the motorcyclist was aware of the bus before making his turn. My complaint is that he turned left from the RHS of a queue of cars across the nose of the queue. The queue would have been at least six cars and the motorcyclist would have no way of seeing what was happening on the main road as he zoomed up because of the layout.

The presence of the bus didn't really affect the situation, other than nearly giving the motorcyclist his comeuppance.
