sat nav fabia vrs

Featured Replies

hi people just finished my latest mod.

i decided the other day that a good place for my garmin nuvi would be the drivers side vent.

i removed the vent mechanism and blocked the warm air pipe, ran the cables up etc and heres the finished product.

quite pleased with it.

lol - that's very cunning!

Very clever - lets hope the neds don't figure how to prise it out!

I like the drivers side air vent to clear my steamy window - I obvisously breathe too much :P

Could one of the centre vents be used for rehousing?

Again - very clever!

That is actually pretty cool :)

it can be removed as easily as when its on the windscreen because the mounting is actually hidden behind the unit.

the power cable is a little tricky to remove but i am getting good at it. :D

could use the center vent but i would recon it would need trimming and the hazard switch relocating.

Could make some sort of black plastic cover for it. Can't see a thief even thinking to look in a vent to be honest! Looks good :)

Very smart indeed.

thanks for the comments everyone.

think this is a first! my two brain cells have actually created something worth doing

Very good.

I fit mine under the heater controls and run a GPS extention around the window to a receiver on the dash. I fix the unit with velcro. Works well

Cool!

A guide to how you did it please...... :)

Very nice.... And an innovative idea.......

I'm assuming you can still remove the SatNav for security purposes. What's it look like with no SatNav in the hole..... Have you neatened the opening up at all?

Cheers

Dave.

yup the unit removes ok. when you take the unit out ur left with a hole. i had to do no trimming to the dash as the nuvi 300 is exatley the same size as the heater vents.

i am in the process of mounting the origin b2 behind the vent in the center.

one problem i just realised is that at this rate i wont have any heater vents left soon:rofl:.

Nice work

What a good idea - very cunning!

If you trimmed the vent assembly down and glued it all securely together you could probably just pop it back in there when you don't have the sat nav in there.

Same principle as having an antique two **** Phillips fascia to cover your head unit :)

Here's hoping you've got heated seats for next winter
