The punto is growing on me... NOOOOO!

Featured Replies

Bit sad I know but having had the punto for a week, I've grown to kind of like it. Some plus points

Remote central locking. I NEED IT in mine.... :( Works from miles away too

Windscreen washing - does a nice thing of three wipes, then waits 10 seconds, then another wipe - without touching a button

Rear seats fold fairly flat.

Good economy. 45mpg isn't too bad. (why it's so gutless I guess.....)

Comfortable ride, but gets wallowy, VERY wallowy on the bends.

After speaking to Allard today, I am getting the mongrel back on Monday evening. Apparently she is awake and talking  :woot: but needs some checking over before being released back into my "care" ;)

Gonna share a load of RR results I take it when they're done ;):D

I asked them if she was talking normally on tickover. For some reason I thought the new cam would mean an uneven tickover, but apparently it's nothing to do with that - it's all to do with the valves opening/closing.

I think it is more aggressive on open/close so you get a little longer to squirt in fuel 'safely'. Tickover wise you should be fine :D

Definitely interested to see how you find it behaving after all this tweaking lark :P

Well, as this is the biggest issue with oem injectors, then I look forward to seeing how much it will fuel compared to the max it will fuel on the normal cam.

It's like I'm getting a new engine. They've replaced a load more bits whilst there. All 8 cam followers have been renewed as well as a few other bolts and bits, plus my water pump will be on there. Should be worth it in the long run.

Yeah should be ace - in some ways I'm annoyed about my engine situation but on the other side I'll end up with pretty much a spare engine ;)

All of the above would be available if you had a real furby vRS ;)

Does it do the wipe/wash thing?

Must be a central convenience ECU function then! Damn, I need to get mine out my door pocket and in my car. :D

Yes, athough some of the people with it complain that it smears a perfectly clean screen 10 secs after cleaning it :D

 and how come your central locking isn't remote? Which bit are you missing? :D

The aforementioned convenience ECU - Had one in my car from a vRS for about 12 months.... in a DOOR POCKET! - Too scared / worried / inept to swap it yet. I have now decided to just swap it over and wtf happens. Can always go back to my old one (pd100 TDI hence why no remote)

Ahhh, with you - thought the PD100 had remote locking...

I know mine does (PD100 Comfort, 51 Reg). But I've a feeling that the older ones didn't.

I had an aftermarket kit fitted by big K - so actually doing my conversion was a step backwards. But of course all the pd100 wiring came out and was more or less chucked away so the remote locking control unit went with it. I still have the fob on my keyring for some daft reason!

isn't it the amount of valve overlap that causes a lumpy tickover ?

But apparently on a TDI this will only occur further up and not on tickover. Unsure of how it works myself so this is where I place 100% trust in the tuner.
