PD170 Rolling Road Results?

Featured Replies

Has anyone had a PD170 (standard)on a rolling road yet? I'm intrigued to know the output figures. :)

Im intrigued to know the figures for a PD140 - I wonder if anyone has had one on a rolling road today? ;)

I know of a PD140 that today made 143bhp at the wheels (156 fly) and 264ft lbs. ;)

Cheers mate!

It looks very similar to an Octy I saw at the last C&F meet ;)

Remarkable coincidence.

I've seen a 170 Passat make slightly over quoted power but not by too much IIRC.

It was wierd... because the Octy just did it without drama... or much noise..

My Furby on the other hand

If you have a go on a rolling, make sure you get to see the calibration certificate.

Many dynos tend to be used to check before and after results of tuning rather than accurately measuring actual power. Also watch out for the coversion between kilowatts, PS and BHP.

1 PS = 0.73549875 kW

1 BHP = 0.745699871 kW.

Wherever possible stick with ratings in kW.

Somebody seems to have put a video of said Octavia on youtube as well . . .

Are my eyes decieving me or is the car sat in the rollers properly? .

I think my eyes are decieving me aswell. It doesnt!

either that car isn't standard or the dyno is mis reading as a standard car won't make nearly 20bhp over standard.

i have witnessed 1 standard PD140 superb on a dyno and it ade about 143bhp at the fly i think.

I'd be interesting in seeing a dyno plot for a PD140.

It feels like there's an obvious step in torque at 1800 rpm when the turbo spins up and then a second step another 1000 rpm higher. I wonder if this shows clearly on a chart.

2 secs and i'll get one :)

portsmouth RR day

there's a superb PD140 about half way down

That link doesn't work :(

During some of the many RR sessions I have been to when the great REVO fiasco was going on it has been shown that it is possible give an increase in the figures by allowing the car to 'ride the rollers'.

ride the rollers?

ride the rollers?

Yes, allow it to climb up on the leading roller.

ahhh, rather than let it sitting neatly between the two :)

Awesome use big single rollers.
