Octi 4x4 Diesel, engine conversion

Featured Replies

I'm just wondering if it would be worth buying a 4x4 diesel octi, then getting the PD130 from the fabia inc 6speed gearbox, and getting it fitted to the octi which would then give a great base to start tuning from.

Would it be worth it?

What sort of costs could I be looking at?

What sort of of torqe/bhp could I expect to get from keeping the original engine and tuning it?

Just thinking of idea's for a cheaper car to run than my vRS. I still want the oooommmmppppphhh but need to keep the fuel costs down as I'm starting todo quite a bit of milage

No, surely not!

Why not get one with the 140BHP 2.0L as a base?

problem is money, I will only have what I can sell my vRS for

What engine would be in the 4x4 Derv?

If it's the 1.9 you can still get a fairly decent amount of power out with a bit of remapping action, IIRC the 105 goes up to about 140ish safely, should make it fairly nice to drive + having 4x4 it can put the power down too :)

You would need a different gearbox as its four wheel drive.

Plus all the gear to convert a petrol car to a diesel as unless your talking MK2 Octavia they didnt do a 4x4 TDi in rhd.

Urm thought the original car mentioned was a 4x4 derv?

Indeed, so that would be an Octavia 2 then, if so in the wrong section.

Could well be :D I dunno I will admit :D

I thought Skoda did a 105bhp 4x4 diesel in the mk1

Nope, petrol only in the UK.

Ahh well, there goes that Idea then. I like the oooommmpppphhh of the pd130, am I right in thinking there are very few of the mk1 octavia's with a pd130 engine. Just had a quick look on Skoda's used cars and I can only find a couple.

The 130 was available on lateish Octavia 1's in Elegance and L+K trim iirc.

In Central and Eastern Europe, beside 1.8T, Octi mk1 4x4 can be found with TDI 90CP (until 2000) and TDI-PD 101CP 6-gear box (starting 2001, until 2006).
