The whole day was without incident but on the way back my car didn't sound quite right whenever I eased of the accelerator. I have yet to find out what it is/was, but I suspect it's going to be something expensive again :(

Had some time today and went to investigate what exactly was amiss. I wanted to remove wheels and make sure the discs weren't warped, and when I touched the wheelnuts, they almost came undone . From both front wheels, 8 wheelnuts where so lose I could undo them by hand... No wonder the wheels felt 'weird'. I really should have checked these where done tight after I had the brake pads replaced two weeks ago :(

Try uploading them to Photobucket and post a link to that, may be a bit easier.

, suggest invest in a torque wrench if not already acquired. And check if you have a garage take your wheels off, though in my experience they usually overtighten...

I brought the torque wrench to the track day! I'm feeling as much as an idiot for not checking them earlier as I feel a bit angry for the garage not tightening them up properly. Live and learn...

Quinten, nuts get hot and come loose.

I torqued the bm's up before an Anglesey trip, 100 miles an hour into School, 5 mins later on the exit road to get fuel the wheel as good as came off.

Why?

Everything began to cool, any expansion / grip was released and the final working loose stage as committed.

So I try to remember to tweak every couple of sessions, just to make sure, so it might not of been the garage at all; playing devils advocate.

Maybe... In any case, it's been a great day and I'm looking forward to the handling day wink wink nudge nudge ;)

  • 3 weeks later...

We're using Ben Elliot Racing for the forester owners driver training day at Alconbury on 4th July . The surreyscoobies fellas booked them for a day at Ford and had a great time.

For 10 cars it came out at 120ea for a full day. Thats a bargain IMO

Welcome to Ben Elliott Racing
