Disappearing Audi

A question with a question ...............

18 years of being a night bird.

So, what time do you finish, do you always work nights.........

Just working the one night this week then off until Thursday for a few hours.

Can work three or four nights one week and three or four days the week after.

Shift work suits me as I have no sleep issues.

Sleep issues - tell me about it.

18 years of nights have seriously wrecked me - as in various studies of NY Police that worked shifts / nights etc. Cannot get to bed before 3am.

Chose nights because busier + far less traffic i.e. more cost effective.

Suffering consequences now.

Do you have children ?

PS

Tell me to sod off any time now as I'm well p**d and you've a job to do - going soon anyway.

Children, yes, three girls and a boy. All the girls have left home :)

and Alastair has been to quite a few meets.

So, you've had the 'joy' of numerous Uni visits.

Cannot believe that Loughborough kept us there for 6 hours. Academicks ................

And, 3 girls, you will be grey then ?

Yes, what little hair I have left is grey :)

Mine had truly gone 'Bobby Charlton' at 25

Look vRSLen, magic talking to you - trouble is I may not last much longer due to 'slight' alcohol' intake. So, to make sure I don't offend / to make sure you don't get in trouble - I'll say goodnight. A pleasure talking to you - ask your Missus if it was her, and definitely 'see you' about.

Dog knows, will probably PM you sometime.

And, you're welcome for a brew anytime you're passing (The PM - sometime). I've plenty of time for decent folk.

Godamn, why are so many folk on Brisky so nice ?

Odd exeptions, inevitably - but it is so encouraging there are still nice people around.

cool, the 3.2 is a fast little thing aswell!

Today I witnessed a magical event. I looked in my rear view mirror to see an Audi A3 3.2 (confirmed later on) as close to my rear bumper as could be. We were on a dual carriage way having just exited a roundabout. I went from 2nd gear to 3rd and he was still there glued to my bumper, but as soon as I selected 4th gear, the Audi disappeared from view in my rear view mirror! How do these crafty germans do it? Was it some sort of cloaking device?:D

I think its just Jap cars in general have massive blindspots :rofl:

cool

I witnessed a sppokily similar phenomenon the other week...I was in a 4wd turbo Mazda and an A3 came surging up the inside of my off a roundabout and then vanished - I'd assumed that the diesel running out of revs just as I hit peak boost was the reason, but maybe Audi have added a cloaking device to the options lists...:D

260bhp 4wd against 250bhp 4wd.... hmmm something tells me the A3 wasn't t

trying

Glad you're enjoying the motor Pitt

Not having a go, but the 3.2's only 10bhp down and weighs 150Kg less than the MPS? So they should be very evenly matched. Maybe he decided against giving chase when you gave it some berries :D

Steve

the Audi is also nearly 50 lb-ft down as well :D

I suppose we were nearing the end of the dual carriageway about half a mile away so maybe that put him off.

And he was sane

Response from someone who is highly qualified in these matters

Out of interest, what's the MPS do mpg-wise in "normal" driving - not grannying it, but not thrashing it?

It's supposed to do 27MPG combined. can never tellthough as I don't know how to change the trip computer from Litres per Kilometer. It showed 20 the other day. Anyone good at maths?

20 litres = 4.4 gallons 1 km = 0.61 miles

Congrats, you got 0.14 mpg

Gonna inform DVLA about your gas guzzler

  • Author

ha ha thanks. It might be KM per litre then. I don't know.

20km = approx 12.2 miles

4.54 litres = 1 gall

55.5 mpg

Hmmmm, you been drinking again

And you really should get your eyes tested

Other mazda trip computers display in litres per 100km, so 20 would be 22.7km per gallon (not mpg) - hth

For some reason mine shows mpg and I don't know how to swap between metric and imperial

EDIT: I checked my handbook this morning and I was right about the units but wrong with my maths. 20L per 100km is actually about 14mpg - double  Still could be wrong:confused: .

Hmm. So not a car I should consider if one of my questions is "what's the MPG like?" then. ;)
