Mk1 Octavia vrs Air Filter

Featured Replies

I have just fitted a neuspeed air filter i bought off ebay. The filter was designed for the audi tt 225 and S3 but fits straight on without any problems. I now have a nice inducion noise and can hear the original wastgate opening.

Just wondering if fitting this larger air filter will cause any problems in the long term.

cheers.

Apparently poorer filtration.

I would imagine its the DV you can hear and not the wastegate.

If its a quality filter, Green, K&N etc, how can having a larger filter cause poorer filtration, as the air only enters via the filter???

What do you base your statement on..

Ive read a few articles regarding the 'performance' filters via stock OEM filters.

I read the newspaper quite often. You'd be amazed by the amount of articles which people would comment on, and have never tested themselves.

So its good to know that manufacturers such as Carbonio, Forge, ABD Racing, Neuspeed, K&N. Pipercross, Green, Vortex, Jabba etc have all wasted their money in research and development on this type of filter, and that now we should all revert to OEM filters.

Perhaps you could publish the pages that you have read ? As the "POORER FILTRATION" as you have quoted, can only come about from poor filters which none of these are, having a larger volume of air in a filter cannot cause poorer filtration, provided the air is filtered properly, its the same air, be it in a larger or smaller place.

But Aaron their mate Dave down the pub told them all about it....And he must be right.:P :P :P

oh bloody hell. if only i had come online earlier. i have now wasted the morning and some hard earned cash buying and fitting a ABD cai.

if only i had read the same articles as you liverpool-lad.

Some did  !

The problem with sport filters is the dust. So...the risk must be taken into consideration.

That's what the filter is for....????????? 'And the grease'
