Power Steering Question

Featured Replies

I had to move my fathers car the other day (06 plate 1.4 Fabia) - Whilst moving the car I realised how much lighter the power steering was compared with my 03 Octy VRS.. I could turn the Fabia's steering wheel with only my finger when stationary, but the Octy's did feel a lot stiffer  (especially when stationary)

I assumed the Octy and Fabia shared the same technology with regards to the power steering? If so then I guess the stealer could easily lighten mine a bit.

Wider tyres? I think too much assistance can be a bad thing though. Not the best idea to 'dry steer' also.

Also, the fabia has electronic power steering unlike the more mechanical variant on the octy. Because the steering on the furby is electronically controlled, its sensitivity is also adjustable through vag-com.

Cheers for clearing that one up mannyo.. The Octy's PAS is fine but I could not believe the difference when jumping from the Fabia to the Octy :)

Fabia - electro hydraulic (electric pump, regular fluid)

Octavia 1 - mechanical hydraulic (mechanical pump, regular fluid)

Octavia 2 - electro mechanical (motor driven PAS, no fluid)
