Windscreen washers low level alarm

Featured Replies

I have got a MK2 VRS TDI and was just wondering if anyone can tell me if it is fitted with a low level alarm for the windscreen washer bottle as it's ran dry and no alarm has gone off! Had a Fabia VRS and that had one fitted! so just thought it to be strange that the octy has not got one. ( the car spec is standard)

Standard on the Elegance if that helps

It may be only fitted to Xenon fitted cars. It is in the coding as an option that can be changed but I tried it on a LEON last week and it didn't work.

I think that the level alarm is only fitted to Octavias with headlight washers, i.e., Elegance's, L&K's, 4x4's and any car fitted with xenons.

I find mine comes on with loads of spare washer fluid left in the tank! But I am more tactical now about how I use the washers as the headlight washers drink washer fluid like there's no tomorrow.

I've got an L&K but no xenons and I low level indicator...Could it be something to do with maxidot aswell?

Nope if you have Elegance, or L&K you get it as standard as you get the headlight washers.

If you have the options Xenon Lights you get the headlight washers and so get the warning.

On the octy MK I anything with headlight washers had a larger wash bottle with a sensor in it, however I am not sure what the score is on the Octy II for the bottle size.

How big is the screen washer bottle if you have headlamp washers? As it swallowed a whole 5l bottle i put in the other day.

The normal washer reservoir holds 3 litres, if you have headlight washers it's 5.5 litres.

Cool, my mates BMW only has 5 :D

Yeah but I bet his warning light doesnt come on while there must be 2.5 litres still in it. the last time it appeared, I ran the car for a further 1 1/2 months with the warning light flashing away on the maxidot before the tank finally emptied!

I spoke to Skoda today and they said that you don't get the low level alarm on the standard mk 2 VRS TDI. just backs up what you've all said thanks for your replies.
