New vRS

Featured Replies

Last Friday I traded my 04 vRS for a nice new shiny 07 vRS  and I have not detected a stutter yet!

However, when I opened the bonnet the battery does not have a top cover like my old one and you can see all the wires etc.

I contacted the stealer and they have come back and said they are all like this now!

Is this right... it looks crap, so I can't believe they would do this at this stage of the models lifespan.

Has anyone else found this?

(red door handles are nice though)

dealers correct... all the new ones are like that......

I wonder if you can buy a cover?

its just a pity they are fitted to a silver VRS , LOL

Cost cutting exercise I'm afraid. Not really necessary, so they delete it.

You could always buy one for a 04 or 05 model.

the cover protects the terminals and connectors, means going back to putting Vaseline or grease to protect the actual terminals from water . :(

Bet the price hasnt come down despite taking this part away

A £2 cost to make cover won't bring the cost down considerably :D

Although they do it to cut the manufacturing costs and they will take the extra profits from this. Most businesses do this.

In manufacturing, most OEM's ask their suppliers for a cost down over the years. Unfortunately, this results in deletion of parts, which are deemed not necessary.

£2 cost price over x amount of cars per year will be a good saving to the OEM.

my 07 vrs is the same.

There is less room too on the 06 on models to change the bulbs because of the redesigned battery box. I can on mine (55 model), but tried on WaveyDavey's (06) and gave up (Xenon equipped only)

think I was there when you were trying that... Whitby ?!

It was.

A good meet too, despite Mr. Grumpy eating that whale/haddock while I was eating a prawn salad!! ....Memories!!!Mind you I'm slimmer than him!!...Now anyway

Body coloured door handles at expense of battery cover.

Well ,you can't have everything I suppose.

Wonder what's missing under the hood from the 'Limited Editions' then?

The engine??
