Mine's still running well on BP Ultimate, though mpg is definately down. Only managed 39.6mpg on the 35 mile trip into work this morning.

What's this Millers Power Sport stuff??

I think my tank (fabia) holds about 45l and my Passat about 60l. If I was to get 28 extra miles from a tankful it would be about an extra 0.5 miles per litre or just over 2 miles per gallon. Seems to me that that represents a negligible improvement in mpg which could be eradicated by driving style or conditions. Having said that that, if the Ultimate is quieter or produces less smoke/emmissions it seems to me that is a tangible benefit. I paid 94.9 per litre when I last filled up with Tesco ordinary (in Manchester). Is BP Ultimate much dearer than that?

Way more expensive for Ultimate! I paid 101.9p for my last fill up. Most BP stations seem to be charging 103.9

96.9p at my local BP garage. Does the Millers Power 4 stuf work?

BP Ultimate has never seen to give me any beneficial effects.

I am currently running my Octy vRS TDI on Shell VPower Diesel, which is only available in the South East to date. It certainly gives me good, smooth, powerful running. Can't comment about 'smoke' 'cos having a DPF there isn't any!

I'm currently part way through my first tank with Miller Diesel Sport4 added, difficult to say there is any fuel consumption benefit but the car certainly seems brisker. I'll comment further after another tank or two.

I think Millers say it takes 250 miles before you notice any effects, but I found that the car feels more willing, keeps pulling further up the rev range and seems to run quieter too (less dieselly). All completely subjective, but I can definitely tell if there's any in the tank or not :D

Chris

Is the Millers used in conjunction with normal diesel?

Is the Millers used in conjunction with normal diesel?

Yeah I use it with regular Tesco diesel...

Yup; use it with normal, BP Ultimate or, as I do, with Shell Vpower.

Where do you buy this Millers stuff? How expensive is it? Do you have to put so much in at each tankful of diesel?

Power Sport 4 will be replacing Power Plus in the near future (allegedly). I've run both and Power Sport 4 makes a very marked difference, Power Plus is an improvement, but not a convincing one compared to the Sport 4....

Chris

I emailed Miller Oils some time ago about the Sport 4 (as I have a Euro III engine) and had been using the Diesel Power Plus.

They replied that the Sport 4 was suitable for ALL diesel engines and was replacing the Diesel Power Plus which was to be phased out.

Sport 4 is around

Looks like I will be giving this stuff a try! :D

Cheers for the link  Found a stockist near me.

For a PD130 diesel would I need Diesel Power Plus or Diesel Power Sport 4? The former says it's especially suitable for pre 2000 cars, and the latter for Euro IV compliant cars. Mine is neither  I take it I'd need the Diesel Power Plus??

I'd move forward and use the Power Sport4 - I think the blurb on it says something like ".... particulary suitable for PD engines."

Glad you're going to try it. Remember - it can take 250 miles to get the best effect.

Is this not a 5 ltr bottle?
Yes

Would this help quieten noisy injectors? (SHMBO's MK6 Fiesta 1.4 TDCi)

Yes

Anybody had any negative effects when using it?

Not me!

It also helps to use BP Ultimate or Shell VPower as well.

Looking at the site, it looks like it's for 5 litres, which is a bargainous

From the site

Millers - Millers Diesel Power Sport 4 5 litre size

[sPORT4-5]

Yet lower down it states 5 litres.

I split the contents so no longer have the original container to verify conclusively

Think it's just missing a comma....

Millers Diesel Power Sport 4, 5 litre size

FYI, for any North-West based people, I've found a Motor Factors in Northwich, Cheshire who are selling the std 500ml bottles for

I tried it in my Leon TDI and it did make a difference. Has anyone come across any problems with using it in a TDI PD? Or is the worst thing that can happen you spend money on something that doesn't work!

Getting 42.5 mpg avg for that last 2000 miles on ultimate, previous 2000 was 40 mpg on shell. Similar type of driving, although may be due to switch from winter to summer rather than brand?

Managing 48mpg on anything that's involving out of town driving eg Glasgow - Edinburgh, which I'd say includes 25 mins town and 40 mins motorway.

As most say the engine is smoother and quieter, but most of all will pull from very low revs more willingly, hence why it's probably more economical. Wife will now not buy supermarket fuel as the difference in noise is v. noticeable.

Finally noticed now filling up at 450 miles per tank and not 420, so the claims of an extra 28 miles per tank seem justified, but it's cancelled by price, so really just get it because it feels nicer.

btw - 2004, 2.5v6 Tdi Comfort with 50k on the clock.

Cheers
