London Eye at night

Featured Replies

I took this last weekend during a trip to the big smoke.

What do you think?

I have not done much night time photography so opinions would be much appreciated.

Looks good

Not to take anything away from your photographic skills, but as long as the exposure is about right, the LE always seems to give cracking photos :)

Didn't you say you'd got tickets to go on the Eye (amongst other things whilst down here)? Hope you had a good time :)

I reckon I've got a half decent shot if it's anything like as good as postcards. Mind you, you might need to hire a helicopter to do that LOL. Anyway, photo looks fine to me. Especially as a keepsake as I guess the Eye won't be there forever.

Went on the eye, also went to greenwich to the maritime museum and the observatory, imperial war museum and had lunch at Gordon Ramsays at Claridges (

Glad to hear you enjoyed your visit :) It's easy to get caught up in it all isn't it?

When we were entertaining overseas visitors once, we could get tickets only for an awful musical. We were hoping they'd be happy to see a London show irrespective; they, in fact, were quite bemused thinking that we English must like that sort of thing

My fave on food (given I've eaten at various posh places) was to ask Fortnum and Mason on the Piccadilly for some Wrigley's chewing gum (naughty Mo). Never got any though.

I'm sure you'll have tons of other photies as well

Terrible

SpecSavers do a good price on..............

Well Done

Good piccy

Here are some more:)

just one more

:) Your fourth piccy seems to highlight the three Barbican towers in the City of London. I worked for the architects for that development (Chamberlin Powell & Bon), though I was on Phase 4 which was a lower horizontal block. It was panned for being "concrete", despite the architectural design aspects in other parts of the development. In retrospect, I'm surprised the tower blocks are still standing. At the time, the towers were the tallest residential blocks built, being about 34 stories IIRC. Richard Roger's stainless steel and glass structure for Lloyds of London was probably the last most widely noted architectural achievement before the Docklands. Now, we just talk about the "Gherkin"

I like your Houses of Parliament photo. It gives the impression that they do something useful there ;)

RE the fourth pic, it was not specifically my intention to have those towers as the centre of the picture. I just wanted to get the pod of the wheel against the city, i was happy to get St Pauls in on the far right of the photo though:)

wot camera did you use? really nice shots.

wot camera did you use? really nice shots.

It is a Sony DSC-H5

I have only had it for about 4 months but i love it. Especially the 12x optical zoom, which was useful on the London Eye for getting shots of stuff like the new Wembley:thumbup:

Awesome shots, have £5.

Awesome shots, have

Some cracking shots there,mate.

Very good  - I did try to get Hayley to go on the eye but she doesnt like heights - shame really as it hardly feels like it's moving and you do get a very nice view on a good day.

Looking good - I especially like the lighting in the HoP shot.

Thank you for the comments:thumbup:

I really need to spend more time getting out and taking photos. It is something i love doing but unfortunatley do not always have enought time to do.

Will get some good shots when i go down to Dorset for the first two weeks of June i would have thought.

Thanks again for your comments.

Yep - with you on that one! Sounds like me - you just have to get out there when you can
