well I like them.............now sits on 215/40/17

Looking good AG ....Nice to see someone cha ...oops sorry modding a Fabia combi.....but I am sure someone will come on in a minute and say "it needs lowering" ...take no notice I know from experiance that lowering the car means some places are out of reach (friends driveways, high kerbs, speed ramps)

See ...I told you so

It needs lowering! :P

Sorry , not my cup of tea at all.

The spindly little spokes don't sit well with the solid curves of the Furby.

Hmmm...not sure they suit the car TBH. Not to my tastes, but if you like them keep em on. :)

Agreed with the others though, it does sit high and looks like a moon buggy. Needs dropping a good 30/ 45mm.

Not bad, but are you replacing Pinky? :(

How long do they take to clean?

I'd ignore the comments about them not suiting the car. After all, the original wheels (with hub caps) are a whole lot nastier so no worries there :)

Because it's an Estate, (not a souped up VRS) it's not really that important how the wheels look.

It will need lowering though. It's one of those situations. Fit the new alloys and get the car lowered or leave on the original wheels and leave it alone.

Well done for being different though, I like that.

You clearly aren't using 'wonder wheels' asking a question like that!

My neighbour lent me a bottle last time he cleaned his car and I was cleaning mine (peer group neighbour pressure an' all!)

Gets the crudy brakedust of the calipers first time.

Need something additional for the road tar though....

looks nice but i do think it needs lowering, i know its not as practacle and you can knock the under side of the car on things but i also think they look silly without lowering as it looks like its up on stilts. i fitted the same wheels to a red focus estate i had a few years ago and it looked silly before i lowered it and miles better afterwards.

they look alright!!:)

No still got Pinky......This is the Wifemobile, 1.2 silverline and I've debadged the rear, removed the fabia and 1.2hpt.........Clean the wheels with soapy water, no cemicals and then polish .............How much will it cost to lower???

The wheels suit the Focus much better due to the sharper lines of the car. Don't they fit those wheels to the ST170 anyway?

Fitting non-standard wheels to an otherwise plain looking car is always a gamble anyway. In my experience it's akin to a good looking lass wearing a big woolly jumper and wellingtons, yet insisting on putting on a miniskirt too. You need the high heels and skimpy top to make the view complete. :)

Looks nice but a bit

Looks good mate, does'nt need dropping, keep it practical.

i think the height is not bad actually considering they are 17s

I think it'll look much better once lowered. People say keep it practical and don't lower it but you'll only lower it by 30-40mm which still leaves plenty of space underneath for speedbumps etc. The car sits higher up from the ground with those wheels anyway, so once lowered it won't be 30-400mm lower compared to the origional height but to what it is now.

If the car sits higher than it did then the rolling radius is out.....good luck with speed cameras. The only benefit is that the mileage counter will increase more slowly as the wheels will rotate less for the same distance covered.

DITTO !!

Try driving it for a while; how does the ride/handling feel? I bet the ride is firmer and a degree jittery with the 17s. If you put lowered spring in, which will be stiffer (Eibachs lower by 30mm but are 25% stiffer) it WILL improve the handling but think of the consequnce on the ride.

I have had lowered springs on two previous cars, one a Fabia, and ended up taking them OFF 'cos of the effect on the ride. British roads are too poor to be comfortable with them.

Would fitting 16s raise the car up? Im still contemplating some white Team Dynamics pro race 1.2s on my Fabia , would like to avoid the cost of lowering springs if at all possible!

It needs lowering so that you get a really firm ride and feel every crack in the road. You'll also gaine extra road noise (being closer to the road) and gain lots of respect. :o

Just out of interest, out of the people who suggested it be lowered, how old are you?

I'm 38.75 :D

Fitting 16's woild not raise the car up providing you fit the correct tyre sizes.

Think about it...you're going from say 14" rims to 16" rims. To keep the overall size the same the tyre profile has to be reduced. Your speedo registers how many times the wheels go round in a certain amount of time to detect your speed. Bigger overall wheels (inc tyres) go round less often over the same distance and so it'll say you're going slower than you are.

Use the calc I listed above. Put in your current sizes and then recalculate it using 16" wheels and some tyres. Re-adjust it until it says the difference is negligable.

Oh dear
