Opinions Please, Good or Bad, Not Bothered

Don't bother with the lowering thing if you need to drive it everyday on our wonderful road system complete with speedramps, potholes etc.

However, if it were mine I'd slap a vrs front bumper on it and a seat splitter, it'd look mint then. Never understood why they didn't make a vrs combi, I'd have bought one.

You clearly aren't using 'wonder wheels' asking a question like that!

My neighbour lent me a bottle last time he cleaned his car and I was cleaning mine (peer group neighbour pressure an' all!)

Gets the crudy brakedust of the calipers first time.

Need something additional for the road tar though....

If you are happy to use a highly acidic product on your nice alloys then good for you ;)

Just keep it away from nicks in the lacquer!

Sorry - too spindly, don't suit the Fabby at all. Fine on Focus. Oddly enough, just the other day, had spotted some of these on another car and had remarked how they didn't look right.

And don't lower the suspension - we've the vRS and anything above 20 mph and the nose taps the floor when coming off speedhumps.

In my son's Polo I can take them at 25+ without trouble.

Would fitting 16s raise the car up? Im still contemplating some white Team Dynamics pro race 1.2s on my Fabia , would like to avoid the cost of lowering springs if at all possible!

Fitting 16s doesn't raise the car up; just make sure you get the right tyre size to match the rolling radius of your present ones. You DO NOT need lowered springs.

Pro race 1.2s will go well on your mpi, mostly 'cos they are one of the lightest alloys around and you need to protect all your hard earned 68 bhp. I know; I put vRS alloys on my 1.4mpi but found that they were 3kg heavier per wheel (than the OE steelies) and blunted the performance.

Also DO NOT get the 205/45 tyre used on the vRS - they are oversized compared to the 185/60 14 fitted to the mpi. 195/45 16 is a much better match, you will not notice the difference in grip and, again, this will protect the performance of your 68bhp.

Finally, just to wet you appetite. Once you have sorted the wheels, get yourself a JabbaSport rear ARB and some Koni FSD shock absorbers. They will sort your car out a treat.

They look a bit 'busy' for the rest of the lines of the car. Just my opinion.

With the low profile rubber, the gap in between the tyre and the wheelarch is exaggerated. Though the angle the photo is taken from doesn't help in that respect.

In terms of looks it would be better slightly lowered but with the low profiles and stiffer suspension AND less ground clearance - ummm.....

To get the "look" right but retain a modicum of comfort, I think I'd have tried 45 section tyres and b*gger the rolling radius.

Just IMO.

That sounds like a plan , but the alloys package in Halfrauds comes with the same tyre size as the vRS Fabia if you opt for 16" wheels , and I'm not sure you can substitute another size. How much are the Konis? I'm not sure I want to spend too much on the car , as I hope to be trading it in for a vRS(havent decided on Fabia or Octavia yet!) or something a little more sporty (clio 182 , Golf V gti etc) in about 2 years time....

nice to see someone else doing a estate like me, i have lowered mine on fk coilovers 40mm drop

haha this is what a 4x4 fabia looks like!:P

got the right profile tyres and the alloys are in the shed just had no chance of getting them on been so busy! but it did look funny :)

Duncan,

PLEASE don't go to Halfrauds!!!! Try Demon Tweeks - they do EVERYTHING you need, wheel packages, Konis etc. You ought to be able to get the size tyres YOU want, not what THEY want to give you.

Whilst their wheel packages come with budget or low cost Yokohamas, A539s (Like H******) they also do the range of Yokohama/Toyo/Falken so you can pick the tyre YOU want.
