I just had my CD player replaced under warranty and now the improvement in sound quality is quite noticeable, more MID/BASS.

Had a quick look through the settings and noticed a Loudness function, which accounts for the improvement, I do not remember seeing this on my original Symphony. Did they upgrade the unit as part of the 2004/5 updates to the Fabia or was this there already?

Either way I'm much happier with the stereo performance now :)

My 04 unit has this function.

Not noticed this in my 54 reg vRS. I'll have a closer look later on......

Is that the one where the speed of the car dictates the loudness of the stereo?

My 05 car has that. Quite a few functions in fact if you have the balls to read user guides... :D

no, it's a special sort of equalizer setting that (I think) increases the extreme frequencies - not dependant on speed - makes it sound less flat...

Does anyone know the option for the volume based on the speed? I've flicked through the options of the stereo but couldn't see anything obvious

Press and hold the 'TP' button for a few seconds. This opens the options menu. Then you use the < & > buttons to go through the options. Use the volume kn0b to alter the individual options/settings.... i.e. on/off etc.....

Hope this helps

Cheers

Dave.

Could someone put a short "manual" for the Symphony specials, since I'm sure there are a few of us without an audio manual.

No probs, here goes: -

Press & hold TP to access specials menu

Use << and >> keys to select option

Use rotary control to select value

Menu order is as follows: -

GALA (setting 1 - 9)

ON VOL (setting 1 - 45 db)

LED (setting = warning LED on or off)

BEEP (settin g BEEP on or off)

AUTO REG (regional setting on or off)

M/S (setting music/speech changeover on/off)

PHONE IN (setting mobile phone on/off)

PH VOL (setting phone volume 1 - 45)

TA VOL (setting volume for traffic service 1 - 9)

CD SFL (setting CD changer to 'shuffle' mode)

KEY (setting HU off with/without ignition key)

LOAD (setting low level loudness on/off)

MONO (setting mono operation on/off)

LOCAL (setting tuner local station search on/off)

Hope this helps, taken from my '04 model year Symphony manual.
