If they are anything like the Ford Rs's & Mexicos of that era prices are going up, people in there mid 40's who idolised them in their 20's now have the money to buy them.

Wolf in Wolf's(burg) clothing shirley?

Wolf in Wolf's(burg) clothing shirley?

nah

more like a gigantic unstoppable raging beast in wolfs clothing.

Mmm, I'll have one for Christmas. Better in Tornado Red though :D

With 390bhp & looking standard on the outside, I'd call that a wolf in sheeps clothing!......and don't call me shirley!:D

Plus, I thought they were made in Ingolstadt???

My mate bought a 1986 Quattro UR 10v a few weeks ago.

Just got it up and running last night after fitting a few new bits to it, so we went for a bit of a drive. He let me have a go and it felt about as fast as my re-mapped Octy in a straight line. May be different when we put them side by side though. Round the bends though it felt far better than the Octy. We'll get them together on a track later this year. :D

is the dog trying to herd the car after mistaking it for a sheep lol

They are definatly cheap cars. My dad has a standard 20v in tornado red (ill get a pic when its next outside) i think that current value for one of these in mint condition is around 10-12 grand ish. So 12 grand for a 10v with a 20v engine and modded depending upon what you want is quite cheap.

Jon TDI, yes the quattros were made in Ignolstadt.

Smiffy, a std 10v would probably match your re-mapped octy at a guess, the quattro is bout the same power (depending on the engine condition), same weight ish, but cornering ability in the dry i would expect it to be fairly similar, but in the wet it will blow the octy in to the weeds. One of the quattros biggest let downs is its brakes, they are carp. The gear change is a little on the long side as well, but thats not a big deal.

I agree £18k for a swb quattro is cheap, maybe too cheap. As for the LWB quattro, the spec is impressive.

That car seems like an absolute bargain.

You just know it's been loved for a long time (no pun intended) and it will be a minter.

You can't even buy a decent Mitsubishi or Scooby for around that price and I certainly know what looks and drives better.

There really is not much on the road today with this much presence and the short Quattro Sport in my opinion, is simply one of the greatest cars ever built.

I agree with you on that one. Definately noticed that the brakes wern't a patch on the Octy brakes. But with only 15 inch wheels they're limited to having small discs by todays standards.

That SWB quattro is a dylinx conversion, ie it started out as a long wheel base version. Having said that what they do is a fantasic conversion, using the correct kevlar panels. IIRC they will also do a good engine upgrade to the sort of power you want. 17K for that car seems a good price to me too. Should you want to buy a genuine sport yuo will be looking in the region of 40K (possibly more).

Another warning driving the quattro at night the lights are unbelieveably carp, partially due to water ingress to the headlight causing corrosion on the reflectors, it is also possible to crate a wiring upgrade that moves the relays to behind the headlamp unit, reducing voltage loss as I understand. Some 120/160W bulbs dont go amiss either.
