I would think all of you will have heard the news the the Octy has been voted the best car to own in the UK. Just in case you haven't check out the Auto Express website. It makes great reading.

Even nicer to be driving the coolest version too!

Must buy one of those.... Oh... I have one already :)

i have a black, mark 1, vrs, 55 plate and have had it 3 months now - love it love it, best car ive owned to date.

However test drove a 2.0 tdi pd mark 2 before i bought the vrs and even now i think that i will eventually trade to a mark 2 when time calls. (couldn't just stretch to a mark 2 price at the time).

The award just goes to strengthen my thoughts - i am sold on the skoda brand.

Had a comment from a guy at work the other day that he just couldn't be seen in a skoda - He drives a 3 series bmw tourer (frankly for the money the build quality is tacky and its noisy as hell on the motorway.

Got an order code for this version of the MK II as at the moment I'm not feeling the love :(

Too true!! :thumbup::D

interesting. kept that quiet.

Looking forward to buying one of these when they go on sale in Oz later this year. Since they still have a bad reputation over there, I'm hoping to get one at a good price.

Thinking about getting a Forester to tie me over until Skoda are relaunched in October.

The only problem is they're not launching the Fabia in Oz and the wife is already missing her vRS after only 2 weeks.

My subscription copy of Auto Express didn't turn up yesterday - I reckon one of Japanese car manufacturers as paid the Royal Mail not to deliver them so the general (non Skoda owning) public don't get to find out what a great car the Octy is! :D

Chuffed to Foooooook

My mates got a Mini S and has been trying to take the p**s.

I wiped the smile of his face the other day though when i left him standing at the lights. I know i shouldnt have floored it with only 578 miles on the car but just couldnt resist:D :D

So ive just e-mailed him that page. cant wait to see him later:rofl:

This just goes to show how clever and intelectual all the members of this forum are, we all new they were great cars before some survey had to tell us that they were.

I think we should all go for a pint down the local pub and reward ourselves with a big pat on the back for changing the world for the better!!  :D

Ditto !!

We'll have to watch out though that Skoda don't get too cleverclogs and popular. I like having a car that is a little bit 'under the radar'!

Great news for the Octy!!!

Have been thinking of swapping my Furby vRS in for the TDI vRS, does anyone own one and how does it go? I'm trying to get a test at the dealers? Been in the petrol one but just wanted to know if people rate the Diesel one too, as I only want the TDI.

Thanks.

Beat the Honda to the top spot.....Ggggrrrrreeeeaaaaatttt!!!

Goes like STINK!! Progress Skoda in Bedford have a TDI as their vRS demonstartor.

Mine's a TDi vRS, and I love it. Wife didn't like my TDi fabia when I put my foot down, still not keen on me doing it in the octy, but she loves to drive it. Just cruise's so easily and always sends her to sleep on the motorway. Of course it's a little louder in the cabin at low speeds, put I love the way it shoves you back in the seat. I'm off to have a drink to congratulate myself too, a great suggestion.

as someone wrote: "under the radar car", i think we should start a campaign to stop skodas becoming the next VWs, if you know what i mean?

i like that warm glow that comes from the knowledge that an coty is no.1 when some ****-end slags me off for having a skoda.

Hey its pleasant to see that my car is now at the top of the list compared to my old one...which was at the bottom! Fiat Stilo!! pile of poo

I still like the fact people think the Skoda is a crap car, doesn't bother me one bit. I know my car will the be the last one that is broken into and keyed! Plus my car has alot more luxuries in it than my friends Lexus and BMW ;o)

I love my octy vrs 2, traded in from a fabia vrs, couldnt falut the fabia but was just a bit on the small side, have gone to the fsiT jobbie and wow is all i can, fantastic car, seeing more on the road tho.

I notice my last car, a Mazda6, was second place in the same category. Do I or do I not have good taste? :-)

I curently have a Mazda6, and am going to a Octavia soon hopefully.

The others here at work drive Civics, so it will be nice to show them the report ;)

oh, and leave them in a trail of dust.... :P

I have always enjoyed owning something that was undiscovered by the masses. It made me smug and self satisfied. Now Skoda are winning awards and all the mainstream press are singing their praises. Please, please, please keep it a secret so I can go on being smug.

Double DITTO

The point h1gg1 made about Bm's is bang on. I foolishly chopped in a mk1 vrs for a brand new

Profound that mate!

Same applies with lots of things, especially music. I hate it when something 'underground' or 'undiscovered' becomes commonplace. 'Ownership' of something seems to give a little something extra. I felt this when I got into The Blue Nile and when I was 16, Marillion. Horrible to see them on TOTP. Recently I bought an album, 'When The Smoke Clears' by a scottish Dj, Nasty P. Got it as a promo and loved his samples from the poem that got me into English Literature, TSE's 'Waste Land'. Plus he sampled the film 'Pi'. None of my mates had heard of him but for me there was a brilliant and shivery connection.

The same is true for me with the vRS.

It's great not following the Audi/BMW conformity monkeys! :D
