Fabia started nagging

Featured Replies

My Fabia has started asking to be serviced. It was new at the end of April last year and has done only about 4,550 miles.

I was under the impression that the first service (which is little more than an expensive oil change) would be due at 10,000 miles or a year. Isn't it a bit soon for it to start nagging me about this?

Possibly a bit early. My car starts around about a month before needing serviced. For the first service it started nagging at the start of December yet was new at Start of January.

Depends on how many miles you do, if its like the octy you get a 1000 mile warning. Looking at your low mileage I would guess 12 months will be up before you get to zero.

when you say nagging, what does it do?

Tom.

It shows the 'service' indicator for a few seconds when you switch on the ignition. I wouldn't worry about it too much though, if you want it serviced in April, have it serviced in April. A year or 10K, not much more, and not much less....

Thanks for all the replies. Yes it's the trip meter that displays 'Service INSP' after turning on the ignition. As I've not done too many miles I wasn't expecting to get this until more or less the first anniversary of buying the car.

I won't lose any sleep over it. I work with a couple of people with the same engine, who bought theirs a few months earlier, so I'll find out when theirs started to nag.

Apparently it's nothing unusual. The Fabia owning colleague said his first service was due in August and the car started nagging in June.
