VRS broken down AGAIN

Featured Replies

Take it to another garage first, preferably one of the Volkswagen Audi group, get them to read it but not clear it, then take it to the first garage, if they cant read it they are a lying bunch of barstewards.

Either way they should have been able to read it the first time & if it was something serious continuing to drive it would only have done more damage. Are you in the AA or RAC because both carry the equipment to read fault codes (assuming they cover the Orkneys).

it went back and got "fixed" 4th time and once again the light came on. I think its sounding like the belt is a tooth out. Its getting done at a ford garage cos thats where it came from, but they stick it to VW to go on the computer. Its not gettin looked at now till TUESDAY so thats 4 days away, SHOULD I STILL BE DRIVING IT THOU????????????

This problem is EXACTLY the same as I have had. Had the cambelt and waterpump changed and we thought we checked the cambelt was OK before putting the engine back together.

After 1 day of no problem driving, the Check Engine Light (CEL) came on. Put the computer on, checked the error that inducated a sensor fault. Reset the error and drove almost two days, then the CEL came on AGAIN!

After reading this forum I decided to check the cambelt again and my oh my ...

One tooth off :

You can drive the car but since the engine is adjusting the ignigtion according to the wrongly adjusted cambelt DONT floor it! Drive it gently.

magic heres some other things that hav went wrong now (apart from the Engine Management light coming on 4 times. You cant stick the 2 rear windows up & down at the same time using the front control or the rear right one just stops and the switch dont work for like 10 mins. The Drivers door will only lock & unlock with by sticking the key manualy in the car door and turning it ! God sake i have only had it 4 weeks and a week of that its been in the garage and its goin right back there the morn !

Really am thinkin about taking it back and sayin they can stick it

Its not the cars fault that the mecanic cant mount the cambelt right!
