Just about to buy tdi vRS Convince me

Featured Replies

Hi all,

I have been offered a well looked after Black 28,000 Fabia RS tdi for

I would recommend a Mazda 3 MPS!:D

Only Joking, my supervisor at work is currently scouring the classifieds looking for a Fab vRS after I did some whispering in his ear. That sounds like a very good price TBH. I've been looking around for him as well and they're normally around the

The best advice would be to go and test drive one. Then and only then will you know if it's for you. I've had mine for nearly a year and think it's great. For me it's a great compromise between performance and running costs.

Adding a remap will take a VRS to around 160-170bhp, but the added torque can be too much for a standard clutch (upgrades are possible if you want to spend the money).

TBH after (180k) 80 bhp Cav 1.7TD , the car is amazing.

Also, build quality is So much better

Drive one and see !

Yeah, drive it yourself - don't let anyone make the decision for you.

Previous posters have already said it - Go and Drive one

If you cant get one at a dealers, would suggest you find your local meet, and beg / grovel to an owner at the meet to test drive one of theirs, I am sure one of the friendly bunch will let you have a go.

As far as mods are concerned, the favourite easy ones are, Cupra intake and panel filter. The next stage seems to be remap( pick your own ) and octy brakes.

Then if the ride is not to your taste, rear arb and change of shocks( lowered),

That is a brief summary, hope this helps.

I had some concerns re space when changing from my Merc E class. Bought the Skoda roof bars (rebranded Thule I think) and a Halfords 250 litre roof box, also in black to match the bars and car. Went to France last year with luggage for 4 of us for 2 weeks and had no trouble and it looked ok too. Total luggage volume was 510 litres (260 car + 250 box), just a little more than the Merc. Oh, and I also love the Fabia's performance and economy. Can't recommend it highly enough!

once you drive one you wont need any moore convincing

Thanks for your all your advice guys, if I buy I will defo be on this site, I couldnt get off cupra.net when I had my leon, Fingers cross I like the ride and pics will follow....

What remap is best ???

My good friend works at Miltek so the exhaust is sorted :)

I've just come across from Audi-sport.net from owning an Audi S3 and the Fabia's power delivery is so much more usable it's incredible!

After 1100 miles in 2 weeks I'm averaging 51MPG, you can't say fairer than that (oh, and I kept with a V8 Audi S4 today on a bumpy, twisty B road)!!

As a price guide, I've just paid £8.5k for an 04 plate 18k mile car, with a fresh service, 12 warranty and roadside assistance from a dealer.

With reference to the badge image, 1 colleague has already commented that the decision to buy the Fabia is 'cool', exactly because we can see through the badge image to what is a perfectly acceptable car that out performs most in it's class.

As a fellow Devonian cupranet user and ex-owner of many Golfs, Ibizas, Leon Cupra and Fabia vRS, I can safely say you won't be disappointed.

The Skoda image is one you can either live with or not, depends on your vanity. I kind of enjoyed the inverted snobbery of it all!!!

The Fabia will feel fine after the Leon. Tuning options are many and have been covered to death and back both on here and cupranet so have a quick search. I used a group buy on here to get an AmD OneClick and it did the job well without the clutch slip that Diesels can often be plagued with. Suspension's not very good on the Fabia when pushing on but that can be changed easily enough. The brakes feel a bit poo but work okay when needed.

You just need to adapt your driving style to make the best out of a Diesel. Don't snap open the throttle (figuratively speaking, as Diesels have no throttle!) but ease in the power and use the mid range grunt and taller gearing. Instant power and very quick A-B times are it's benefits, lower and slower revving are it's foibles after a quick 1.8t.

Had mine for nearly 2 years, still puts a big smile on my face whenever i drive it, which i guess is as good a recommendation as any.

Bought swmbo one when they first arrived kept it for about 12 months, now bought one for myself :D

Recognise you from seatcupra.net bushybeaver.

I think I'm going to do the exact same thing, just bought a house and my LCR is a luxury I can do without at the moment!

Think I'm gonna go for a Fabia VRs, got to be black though. Got to be!

Hi postman pat. I take it swmbo's car is planned for the future seeing as the mk2 Fabia vRS isn't out yet?

Panholio, I don't think you'll be too dissapointed. I jumped from a Fabia vRS into a Leon Cupra R, and wished I hadn't!

Okay I am now a pround owner of 54 plate fabia vrs, think its still on pistonheads in black with 28k, I cant believe the power delivery from start, wants to spin in second, I can honestly say I LOVE IT !!!!

I've had to christen it first though!!!!

Got up nice and early this morning 4.00 am to get back down to Devon, left my dads in really think fog doing 40-45 then BANG !!!! fuk me its a deer !!!! I hit it but I was very very lucky, I had no reaction time for brakes just hooked it as best I could to the right if another car would have been there then....., and believe me a hit this Bambi hard, it just appeared I can still see the big dozy early walking nob jockeys eyes now!!!!

Corner of the bumper took most of the impact, headlight went and fog with cover, ns wing didnt get touched nor did the bonnet which I still think cant believe, the rest of the car was down the side, dents, hair, blood, deer shi* all over the side. Man I felt like crying, I only insured it last night biatch...... well **** happens, I am in the trade so have peeps that can hopefully sort it without losing my no claims, I know it could have been a lot worse, come up the bonnet hit the windscreen kissed me and ****ed over the roof some where, but hey.. Welcome to my world new car.. lol :)

You're kidding...... 1st day of ownership and a deer wants to give your bonnet a closer inspection. Thats so unlucky mate.

Sounds cosmetic though and fixable. Just wont be cheap. :(
