vRS TFSI 0-62MPH Times

Ur, unless I have missed something, you seem to be eluding that a standard VRs would be quicker to 60 than a remapped one....

I'd imagine a remapped MkI would be quicker than a standard MkII having been in remapped 1.8T before (not an Octy VRs though).

Liverpool-lad - is yours a MkI or II?

I'm not really into this 0-60 mallarky, It doesn't tell anyone anything....

But Harry said what I meant ;)

Its a Mk1 on 45k miles. Pulls so much better than standard so I think Id have no trouble :) Im not sure what pipe Snoopie is smoking ;)

Well it tells us what is quickest to 60. Not a comprehensive indicator of overall performance but a measure none the less.

On the road performance, I wouldn't say there's much difference between a standard MKII Octavia and a remapped MK1 Octavia. It's only 10-15 hp difference.

People some of you are missing the point here

Im not trying to prove my car is faster than anyone else's. To be honest i dont really care. If i had wanted a faster car id have ignored SWMBO and bought an FQ-360:rolleyes:

I did the test because i thought my car wasnt producing turbo kick-in after first gear. (Probably something to do with id had a go in VRSstu's car:thumbup:  )I decided to get my dad to time it so that it wasnt me pressing start/stop (hard to do when changing gear and holding steering wheel:P :P )The only reason i posted them is because of the difference in the time stated by skoda in the brochure and was wondering if other people found the same.

After reading a few of these posts i became a bit doubtful of what i had produced so i asked my dad could we test my car against his. He has an ST220 mondeo and it couldnt keep up all the way to 150mph so i think its fair to say the results are accurate enough. (by not keeping up i mean i was between 1-2 car lengths in front all the time)

Ive checked online and most cars tested by auto magazines range between 6.6 - 6.9 seconds so i dont think im far out.

For those of you who kindly offered to have a drag race:rolleyes: sorry im back in germany now and i didnt buy the car to do that. Like i said earlier if id wanted a car i knew would beat almost anything id have bought the FQ-360.

Also i just wanted to warn people against using 97 fuel from what the guy at the garage said.

So can we all play nice now

Private road obviously....

Well Jonno from the first post in this thread i doubt it.

i'm glad the sarcasm from my post didn't go un noticed.

I'm surprised Mater that you were niave enough to admit that the testing took place on a public road and then specify which one it was.

Now your safely back in germany no doubt they'll be on the look out for other race blue vrs drivers who use this road on a daily basis. Just look at the number of flowers tied to lamp posts along this road.

You didn't buy the car to drag race? Oh yeah? So what were you doing when your Dad was trying to keep up?

The East lancs is a big long road so its not really naive and it was only done on one night at 1am so was a deserted place. It's not as if im not organising a fast and furious style road race:P on a weekly basis is it now so i doubt any filth will be looking out for me or other vRS drivers.

Also a drag race is where you have two cars racing mainly to see who covers the 1/4 mile the fastest. We did the modeo test on a motorway starting on the hard shoulder again at daft o clock so it again wasnt endangering anyone apart from me and my father:thumbup: . So naivety dosent enter the equation. Stupidty maybe but not naivety:P :rofl:

Until you go round a bend :D Mk2 is a much better platform unless you have thrown a decent wedge at the suspenders and ARB's on a mk1. But then I have just chucked a wedge at the suspenders on my Mk2 and now it's really rather good

:D That should ruffle a few feathers! LOL

Not really I wouldn't have thought as I assume it is widely accepted that the MkII is a better handling platform, largely because it is shared with the Mk V Golf GTi whereas I presume the Mk I Octy is shared with a Mk IV Golf that itself handles like a jelly (I know this from first hand experience!).

Hmm... Not all MKIV's .. Maybe a 1.6 base model. But the GTI's were fine, as were the LCR's .. Which again, share the same platform. All depends on what model etc.... I didn't think there was much in the difference between a MKII Octavia vRS and the MKI...

The MK IV GTi (150/180) was far from fine - I test drove enough of them before I went for a V5. The handling on the V5 was equally as poor but it was a better engine IMO (albeit not tuneable).

The handling was transformed with some Eibach springs though on standard dampers.

I've also driven a number of TDIs both 130s and 150s and again the handling is poor.

The only MK IV Golf that had handling anywhere near decent was the R32.

This is great  reminds me of all the classic 'who is quicker' CupraNET threads.

Anyway, I thought that once you got past 89mph you went back in time and had to find a mad proffessor bloke to hook up your car to a clock when lightning strikes?

Oops i'm going off thead here arn't i? :thumbdwn:

Dor.

The R32 has the same Chassis as the MK1 Octavia. But you can't compare that as it's unfair, 4WD...

I would say the Leon Cupra R is as good at cornering as an Octavia MKII vRS if not a little better.

That again, uses the same chassis as the MKIV Golf. But alot of it depends on the factory suspension used.

This is great  reminds me of all the classic 'who is quicker' CupraNET threads.

Why does it? No one mentioned 'My car is faster than yours'?

It's a Forum ;)

Lol, of course.

It was the mk1 / mk2 bit i was thinking of, higher up in the post :) .

What (the suspenders) have you changed? You were getting Koni FSDs fitted but anything else?

Eibach Springs I believe although I wonder what all this talk of springs and dampers has got to do with the original thread question regarding 0-62 times?.

Koni FSD's are on, Eibach's and now my Neuspeed uprated rear ARB is on after it was gathering dust in the garage for almost 12 months since I brought it back from the US mate.

Sorry gov' that's partly my fault as we where talking straight line speeds and I introduced the concept of bends. Way off topic and feel free to use "the power" of Red on the posts mate

For the doubting thomas' about the skodas 0-62mph times read the following link

Skoda Octavia - Autocar.co.uk

That should settle the argument:P :P :P
