Maybe shouldn't have bought that Ford

Featured Replies

We bought a new Ford Fiesta Freedom last year and have had a few problems with it.

At 900 miles the dash lit up and told me the brakes had failed, called the AA out and they towed it to the local dealer who had it for about three weeks. Apparently the ABS controller was knackered and the part was on back order. Now we have a letter from Ford telling us that there's a chance that when you press the clutch it may not disengage drive to the wheels!

So maybe the new ford with the fancy integrated bluetooth and voice control wasn't such a good idea!

At least it looks nice. :D

the letter from Ford is for the current recall on the clutch pedal , for the fitting of a clip to secure the clutch master cylinder rod to the pedal , its nothing to worry about and only takes a minute or so to fit , i fitted over 40 of them last week .

we have had problems with the rod coming off the pedal since that Fiesta model has been out , unfortunetely it has took the bean counters at Fords 5 years to decide it will be cheaper to fit a clip on the pedal than replace countless m/cyls at £50 a pop

i think our dealership has replaced the ABS unit on a couple of newish Fiestas , so yours isn't an isolated case

The Missus looks well annoyed!

...because from that angle it looks like she's just opened the door straight into the side of the truck!

That's actually the demonstrator, her car is a 56 reg but it looks exactly the same.

The look of concern is her decided if she likes the steering wheel or not!

Women are a mystery to me, making a decision to buy a car on the look of a steering wheel, remarkable!

You seem surprised about this  :D

Ford dealers are a bigger mystery( or rather what they stock) - our firm only gets leased Fords - foci estates/ fiesta /connect/transit vans.

At one stage we were getting through a lot of Transit wing mirrors - sort of dissapeared overnight ----yet we found our local dealer kept these - You ask what's so surprising about that - perhaps the fact that their premises is too small to get one in - parking in their carpark is a 55 point turn job in a longwheelbase tranny. Yet other week we had an alternator light on in a Fiesta van - turns out to be alternator - which they don't keep in stock.

Yet same firm replaced engine, under warranty in an escort 55 van in a few days .
