New Occy - Best Discount

Featured Replies

With a bit of luck my local dealer will be able to sort out a good deal in the end. They are good for servicing/warranty work.

BUT..........If they won't move I will go elsewhere ;)

All these perks that Skoda has advertised recently, ie 0% finance, only seem to be applicable to cars registered before 30th June. Apparently this ruse is aimed at shifting 'stock' cars.

I have just ordered a 2.0 fsi L&K hatch, with 0% finance, with DTD, but as it is a factory order the finance is kaput! Expected to arrive in August, but due to my holiday, I'll take it in Sept, with 57 plate.

Changing my L&K 1.6 tiptronic 56 plate ( 1st Sept 2006 ) for a L&K 2.0 tdi DSG. What will I beable to expect a P/X for my 1.6 L&K? Anyone can help as the dealer promised me a p/x value wednesday

I got a shocking P/X on SWMBOS car so I wouldn't hold my breath.

There are exact cars going for 7 - 7.5k and they offered me 4 - 4.5k

The main reason is probably the fact it's not a Skoda so harder to offload.

Too new/rare to get a value on the Glass's site available through Vauxhall.

What did you pay for it and how many miles on it?

Steve

I think dealers are finding it difficult to price cars for PX. What also needs to be bourne in mind is that if you do a deal now on a factory order and wait 8 weeks or more, your PX will have depreciated more.

Wondered why the dealer didnt give me a p/x value on Monday and have to wait till wednesday. It has only 4725 miles on the clock. The reason for change is that I cannot get on at all well with the L&K 1,6 tiptronic and I should have gon for the DSG tdi in the first place.

Only other way is to look on the Skoda network/Trader etc and see what is on there, similar to your car. Then take about £1500 off that, roughly.

Steve

If the Finance/Kit deal doesn't continue and my dealer misses the registration date he can kiss goodbye to the deal.

I am not paying full PCP rates, loosing out on 3 years free servicing and having to pay an extra £900 for options. As far as I am concerned, if the package is not available when it comes to taking delivery, then they have significantly breached contract and I will be walking away.

Here is the breakdown of my vehicle order (spec as sig) with 12-15% discount (depending on how you count the freebies)

Forgive my ignorance, are you going direct with the dealer or a DTD/Broker deal?

Is this whole free serving etc etc there to shift a decent quantity of cars before the MY08 cars start becoming available?

Forgive my ignorance, are you going direct with the dealer or a DTD/Broker deal?

I negotiated direct with a dealer (my nearest technically)

Is this whole free serving etc etc there to shift a decent quantity of cars before the MY08 cars start becoming available?

Why is MY08 a new model / facelift?

Also the deal is on factory orders aswell as "stock" cars far as I understand (well it had better be as mine is factory order  )

MY 07 cars came out in the middle of '06 with minor spec changes such as the MP3 jack in the jumbo box, cruise control light and added maxidot features along with some other bits and pieces, the exact details are buried in the forum somewhere.

I missed the MY07 by a few weeks on my old car and I'm wondering whether to hang on for MY08 :rubchin:

I think they normally introduce changes in May.

The MY08 changes are still by and large a mystery aren't they? when would be the best time to order to take advantage of the changes whatever they may be? I am guessing end of this month.

Maxidot as standard would be nice but unlikely given the amount of people that have ordered it as an option

and that the price has gone up.

Ah yes that old chestnut :P

Just to add my recent experiance of ordering a new VRS...

I currently drive an Audi A4 TDI Sport but was looking for a fun, high performance ,reliable petrol hatch with good build quality. Initialy thought Golf Gti as this seemed to cover all the bases but after further research & visits to various dealers added Civic CTR & Octavia VRS to my shortlist. After a few test drives and a bit more research decided that the VRS was for me

Min spec I was looking at was TFSI 5 door hatch , Race Blue , 18" alloys & Jumbo pack. other prefered options were Cruise , Rear park sensors , Xenons & Maxidot. Then phoned a number of dealers to check stock cars and got a number of options best one that fitted my requirements & had everthing I wanted with the exception of cruise & maxidot. Then got Drive the Deal price and after trying 4 dealers got one who would match It and retro fit cruise for £ 17,000 saving £ 2,965.00 from full list price. It is important that to get the best deal the dealer knows you are serious and preferably ready to order, also do not believe what all dealers tell you that this type of discount is not available as from my personal one and the various broker prices it clearly is. Needless to say I drove down ordered the car at that price and all being well should have my new Octy early June :D :D :D

In summary I am saying is that if you are prepared to be somewhat flexible and prepared to do a little leg / phone work great deals on a great car are out there.

Just a shame I seem to be a little too late for the 2007 Prauge trip :( as that sounds like it will be a big laugh but there's always next year.

As it happens... Us skoda dealers do not have the same margins to work with as VW do. Our margins are regrettably much smaller as the discount is already given to the customer as our cars are considerably cheaper than the VW equivalent. The maximum we can discount a car is 8% which in turn means that we are selling the car at cost! Brokers may get more of a discount than Skoda retailers and this ,however, we do get first dibs on availability, a broker may not be able to supply you with the car you want as they cannot factory order vehicles, they can only sell you what they have in stock. People tend to forget that Sites like 'Drive the deal' are actually sourcing cars direct from Skoda retailers so they are in fact just contacting Skoda retailers across the UK and asking for their best price, they state that delivery is 'Free' but the dealership will have to account for the cost somewhere, this will come out of your discount.

Also, if you don't support your local dealerships, they will close! Which means no service departments, no car sales and YOU the customer will have to travel further and further to have your car maintained and will eventually end up paying premium prices as there will only be a handful of suppliers left to get the best deal on a new car from.

My heart bleeds! As it happens I did get mine from my local dealer as he gave me the best price. However if Motorpoint had had the spec I was after I would have probably gone there. I don't tend to worry about how bad for business it is for my local dealer funnily enough!

I personally live and breathe Skoda, I do not need to work here as I am a qualified business analyst by profession, but do so out of sheer enjoyment because of the type of customers that the brand commands. It is a pleasure to speak with our customers and makes the working day worthwhile and we would like to keep it that way.

I constantly keep an eye on Briskoda.net so if you would like to comment about our dealership, have any issues or would just like some advice the please feel free to post messges on this thread (the powers that be are also watching!!).

I for one support my local dealer but it hasn't stopped my nearest 2 from closing in the past few years, the nearest is now 45 minutes away which isn't a major problem as the dealer is excellent.

My wifes vRS has been ordered from there and my last 2 leased Octavias have been serviced there. I also buy all of my parts, accessories and consumables from them as well. They do pretty well out of me and will do even better when the vRS arrives.

Like I have already said I support my local dealer but that didn't stop me using a drive the deal price to haggle a better price on the car. If the dealer wasn't going to make any money from me he would have told me to bugger off.

I used skodastore.com to order my new vRS. They qupted the price and put me intouch with the winning dealer who have been excellent. I'm quite happy with it so far, the website negotiates the best price it can and I support a proper dealer Rainworth Motors in this case. (still waiting for the car though as it is a factory order).

I bought from a broker and I do feel I support my local dealer...they get all the servicing and warranty work. However I am not willing to pay a penny more than I have to to secure the car I want.

My car came from Benfield Skoda in Harrogate (150 odd miles away), so they benefited from the sale (I'm sure they didn't make a loss) PLUS I offered the deal to my 3 nearest dealers who all declined and, as I have previously posted, tried to scare me off a broker with the usual scare stories (import, you'll never see the car at that price etc). Surely this puerile behaviour should be discouraged during sales training.

The price I paid even included transporter delivery so surely the local dealers could have matched.

It seems to me that often dealers don't want to deal with people who have a handle on the market place, it means the customer is in control; not the dealer and that is not how the retailers want it.

Just my rambling thoughts.

Dan
