New Occy - Best Discount

Featured Replies

Another point that has been bought up by Dan.

I was told categorically by one dealer I saw that any car purchased from a well known car broker would be a "grey import" and "not to UK spec" and "not eligible for full UK Skoda warranty".

IMO that's a little harsh! I can understand people trying to protect thier interests but not to the extent of scare mongering.

Slightly off topic but dstev's post (what is your name by the way?!) reminds me of a funny story with my wife's Scenic.

We bought it from AllBrandsNew in Hull for a corking price, they were very honest and open and told us the car was an import and therefore only had a 2 year warranty.

When the car was 2 and a half years old something in the engine packed up (coil pack?) so we booked it in to the local Renault dealer. I never mentioned it was an import (well they never asked!) and when I picked it up I just signed the paperwork took the key and walked briskly (didn't quite run, tried to not smirk) out of the showroom!

I was convinced I would get a phone call to say I had to pay the bill but they never called.

Dan

I shopped around for a few weeks and having received all the prices I went to my local dealer. Told him what I wanted the spec I wanted and told him if the deal was right I would put the deposit down there and then. He was about £50 out from my best online deal. So I put the deposit down and now I've got the long wait till its delivered :-(

Just to clarify... We at Marlborough are fully aware that DTD cars are NOT grey imports and DO carry the full manufacturers warranty, the cars come from dealerships. We never discourage anyone from shopping around (I do it so will never tell anyone else not to), competition is healthy and good for the customer. All we ever say is 'Shop around and come to us last, then we have the opportunity to beat the price and do the deal'.

The reason you got your TFSI Octy with a heavy discount is that dealerships cannot sell them for love nor money, we had one here in stock for over 4 months without a hint of selling it, eventually we had to make a loss on the car to get it out of the showroom (a lucky customer got £2500 off list price), hence you see lots of Skoda Sales people using them as Demos and that why you see so many ex-demos for sale. 95% of customers purchasing an Octy vRS will opt for the diesel.

So if you want to bag yourself a bargain, shop around various dealerships to find one that has a 2.0TFSI vRS Hatchback in stock, ask how long they have had it for then beat them up on the price.

Once a car has been in stock for 90 days we must sell it or we lose money every week over.

The free servicing offer is only available if you are taking the solutions finance package for the purchase of the car.

What was said to me was that the car had to be ordered before the 30/06 and had to be delivered by 31/07.

I would think that if they are taking an order for a car at a price with deposit then they would have to honor that even if there were delays at the factory pushing it beyond 31/07.

dstev2000 I have the car you're looking for in stock!!

Interesting thread

If the dealer margin is only 8% then how come VRS195 got 15.5% off??

btw, I'm interested in a black VRS TDI estate with mulitdot, xenons and rear parking sensors if any 'supplier' wants to give me 20% off - cash waiting ;) will take small finance for the 'free servicing' deal

Dans the name! ;)

That's between me and the Sales Manager ;)

Seriously though, my car makes a loss.

It is a factory order (begins production next week - so hopefully MY2008 spec)

The reason the Sales Manager completed on the deal (Dealer Principal actually signed off the deal) was that my car would hit factory order (or new) targets for the quarter - my car will officially be the last car of the quarter . In fact technically it is unlikely to even arrive this quarter, but using its chassis number it will be registered this quarter prior to being "physical".

The registration for both finance and new car sales will trigger retrospective bonus payments to the dealer from SUK on ALL the new Octavia's delivered this quarter for both sales and finance targets. This more than offsets the loss on one vehicle.

Just in the right place at the right time I guess !

I managed to get the Dealer to beat the DTD price:thumbup: . Took a little bit of persuasion and a bit of charm (well that’s what I call it).

This is the exact reason why a broker is often the best bet; VRS195 struck lucky because he found the dealer that needed the sale to trigger the bonuses.

A broker has a higher chance of finding this deal because they have the knowledge/contacts/time to find the deal.

Ok, am keen to trade my Black stock vRS (32,000 miles) on an 04 plate with a GPS tracking system for a vRS. Not too bothered by colour and i am willing to be flexable on spec.....................What's the deal?

Is it just the VRS with the FSI engine, that are difficult to shift, or all cars with the 2.0 FSI? I have recently ordered a 2.0 Octy L&K hatch from you, through DTD!

Just the 2.0TFSI vRS are difficult to sell.

When I bought my Octy II recently the dealer told me the diesel (1.9 and 2.0) outsold the petrol 2.0 FSI (not VRS) about 10 to 1.

What's up Stu, somebody say something funny?

Not at all, there are discussions going on in the background for the greater good of the community and hence it was appropriate to 'soft delete' the post for now.

Your like the FIA, Pit Lane closed.Black flag!

Yes agreed if this guy is real we might be able to line up trade, we see.

Mike

I'm much more decisive than the FIA I can assure you.

Phoned over a dozen dealers looking for the following spec. a few weeks ago:

VRS FSi Estate, with metallic paint, Maxidot and boot liner. Phoned just after the inclusion of the 18" alloys and Jumbo coolbox/elec rear windows were thrown in as included extras to the list price.

Also got diamonbrite paint protection, full tank of fuel and sythentic oil kit thrown in for a total price of £17,770

Had no trade in which no doubt helped.

I was very pleased that Marlborough were taking part in discussions, but I quite understand that touting for business might be frowned upon.

No News:(

Looks like no deal...............Oh Hum.......Looks like a Corsa for me!

Mike

Hi all, first time poster. Picked up yesterday from Motorpoint my new VRS hatch in black magic for a little over £14,300.00. Prior to seeing this car I had discussions with my local dealer (Simpsons in Colne) about the estate version, but they didn't seem particularly bothered about trying to match any deals I had found on the internet, which I found quite suprising.

The car has the dual zone/electric windows fitted with light assist and jumbo box so it seemed like an absolute steal. The part ex. price was better than the main dealer too.

I had previously bought an Alfa from Motorpoint and didn't have any problems with servicing etc. at the main dealer.

Needless to say, I am absolutely loving it - just a pity about the weather!

I think the vRS sells pretty well so the dealers aren't interested in giving substantial discounts on the cars. I tried with a diesel vRS and the dealer wouldn't play ball for the reason stated above, I still got a good price out of them as I sat there with £500 cash on the table for the deposit which helped seal the deal.

I would have gone to motorpoint or DTD but the solutions/free servicing/upgrade deal was the best option for me at the time.

Enjoy your new Octavia and welcome aboard.
