Remote boot release

Featured Replies

All three of our Octy II's (past and present) have popped open with a press of the middle fob button.

None of this pressing of the boot button tomfoolery.

ive been playing with my boot release and found the following

If you press the button on the key fob you can open the boot from anywhere within 2 seconds. i.e you dont need to press the black rubber not really long enough if you have got arm fulls of shopping:(

After 2 seconds the latch closes over but still leaves the boot able to be opened for upto 45 seconds by pressing the black rubber button.

After 30-45 seconds (was never the same twice when i timed it:confused: )the car locks again the alarm is activated and the boot can no longer be opened

Hope that helps

Carl

This is the same as mine except it doesn't lock again if I don't open it. Thanks for this as I always used the rubber thing.

My boss did similar to this in his Audi the other week, opened the car with the central locking (all doors) then only opened the boot, because a door hadn't been opened the car locked itself again whilst he had the boot up.

Put keys on boot floor so both hands were free, found what he was looking for and shut the boot.

The RAC reckoned they could open the car but it would invlovle some crawling around and wire snipping to get in, so we had to wait for the spare key to be delivered from the office! Luckily we were doing some work in a hotel and spa so we sat in the bar to wait :D

For this, you could always try using your mobile phone. We tried this a few years ago (Wilkopilko will back me up on this, hopefully). Stand next to your car on your mobile and ask the person at home with your spare keys to unlock your car by pressing the key fob unlock button next to the mouthpiece on the mobile. You need to put the earpiece of your phone near to the receiver of your car. I know this sounds impossible but it worked for about 50% of the cars in the car park!!! For the record, I can't get it to work on my car but it definately worked on my previous car, a Nissan Primera.

Bet you all try it now

I remember seeing the guys at brainiac trying this and it worked! ;) Never tried it myself tho!

It definately works. We tried it on lots of different cars and some it did not work on but some it did. Thinking back about 3-4 years, it would have been on a Primera (old and new style), Passat, Alhambra, Puegeot 406, Mazda 6, Golf and possibly an Avensis. It worked on a few of these cars. Try it with a few people you know with different cars because one day you may need it.

It may be the website which is rollocks. Amazingly, not everything on the web is true! If Brainiac tried it and it worked, then they would have filmed it but they could also have made it up. The only sure fire way to check is to do it yourself.

Mine opens fully when the fob button is operated and always has done right from the time I had it.

VRStu's contact with Technical, presumably Skoda UK says it all, they would be hard put to tell you if the wheels go round. Do they know anything about the products they market?

I have noticed that the little rubber stopper on the right side of bootlid has the dimples on it damaged, whereas the one of the left it perfect....as if the bootlid ain't sitting right or the stoppers aren't.

Had another look today, it actually looks like the rubber on the left side of bootlid comes no where near the hardstop when closed, anyone else spot this? Might explain why the whole system ain't working as the bootlid has nowt to sit on that side apart from the lock itself.
