I reckon it's the tyres.

If someone would be so kind/daft as to lend me one at the track day, I'll give you my informed opinion :D

I voted good however I agree that on the tyres it came with in the wet i loose my confidence when going into corners quickly. Also ever since new in the wet the rear suspension is noisy when going over speed humps or rough surfaces. It almost squeaks like my mums old mini metros used to when they were in need of pumping up (hydro something suspension i think they were running on) Awful cars!. Dealer has checked my Furby Vrs out and informs me there is nothing wrong, suprise surpirse. Anybody else experience squeaky rear suspension?

There are a few people on here that have this problem - including me :thumbdwn:

Its a problem with other VAG cars as well and last I heard they were working on a fix

I heard someone mention that the rear bumper was fouling the bodywork causing the squeaking noise. If you lean on the bumper and release it may well make the same noise. Meaning the bumper needs re-adjustment.

well that strut looks pretty good!!! Might have to save up for one!!!

Doesn't look too dificult to fix on either, might get the spanners out!

If I can sample the whale-choking torque of your SDI Jon, you're more than welcome to have a go on mine ;):D

It's easy peasy to do, a literal 5 minute job. It makes the handling much more taught IMO (and as there is less flex in the car body, it is easier to slide it out  )
