Just wondered what people's opinions were - personally I think its quite terrible - way too much roll, understeer etc - but other owners I've spoken to rate it highly

Its nowhere near as good as the setup on my old Octavia vRS :thumbdwn:

It was put up against a Seat Ibiza PD130 Sport (so not a Formula Racing, Cupra, whatever, version) in the Dutch AutoWeek magazine, and the Ibi was considered to have the best suspension of the two... Their comments on roll and understeer echo yours.

FWIW, of course. Can't comment myself as I've yet to drive one.

I've not had mine long so haven't had a chance to start pushing it. What I have noticed is the body roll, dampers feels firm but spring feels soft (i think).

the standard Furbie has fantastic suspension handles very well but has a bit too much roll and caning it round wales i couldnt induce understeer easily when it did happen was due to conditions rather than the chassis. (I also found they are very easy to get airbourne at around 100+ :D )

 NUTTER!!! ;)

you were behind me IIRC

I've voted bad, but the tyres do play a big contribution I think. I am used to my old Fabia with 30mm lowered suspension, so this now feels soft and soggy!

Not for long though! ;)

Errm.. depends what you want out of the car really.

Its not going to handle as sharp as a Citroen, Pug or Renualt, because they weigh feckall in comparison.

i find its a perfectly acceptable compromise, good resistance to roll (better than the Comfort TDi eh Jason  ) and a nice sporty feel without totally ruining the ride quality. a comparison of the Ibiza 130 and Fabia vRS done by Ian Walling (Driveforward on Seatcupra.net) - He owns a Ibiza 130. Basically said, for day to day driving, the Fabia is a far superior handling car due to its different suspension set up. altho magazines say the Ibiza has a ever-so-slightly better turn in on a track.

I voted for handling Fine with useless tyres.. altho to a point i can understand why they chose them.. they wouldnt get instantly shredded by the immense torque. and not all owners will be enthusiasts who wont mind replacing tyres every 8000 miles. :D

lol... i sooooo thought you were gonna loose it.. which is why i dropped back for a bit! :D

I found the dampers a bit soft and the car looked to high for a sports model.

Hence the Koni adjustable dampers and Eibach springs.

Strut brace also gave the steering more feedback.

These are my mods to be. Apart from the Koni's for now. Might be a tad lower though! ;)

I think i get quite a lot of understeer' date=' but as neo said i think a lot of it is down to the tyres which are awful in the wet i might add. Im ordering the Seat strut brace tomorrow to see if this makes any difference.

Ive also got to add that it kind of looses its composure at around the 110mph mark, not that i do this very often mind!

Ive also noticed cruising on motorways at around 80mph that it starts to bounce around a bit [/quote']

How much does a sturt brace cost roughly??

They are about 50 quid from any SEAT dealerships. Look good in the red, just remember to take the SEAT sticker off!

Ive taken my sticker off now :)

Got any pics of the brace, Ross?

Yeah here we are....

Very nice :)

Any idea if they're available to fit "normal" old-skool petrol furbies? :D

i voted good, but iv'e lowered mine on eibach springs. it seems to corner nearly as good as my 206 did now.

Pardon my ignorance in these matters - what is the strut brace designed to do?

Thats because the motorways around ere are ****!.... ive been flat out on a decent motorway ;) , and the car seemed really stable! :D

The same brace will fit all Fabia's iirc.

The strut brace stops flexing between the two turrets during cornering adding stability.

And mines still pretty stable at 135 mph (on a private road of course ;) )

In the few days I've owned the car the suspension is way better than my previous Polo Sport. I'll echo the comment that the Fabia Michelin tyres in the wet are awful.

My tyres are still running in but at speed round corners the car feels very stable - pulling off the M25 clockwise onto the sharp left hand slip for the M40 towards London I was suitably impressed.

I voted GOOD.

They will fit any Furby/Ibiza/Polo  as it fastens to the struts and they are the same regardless of engine (might have a problem if there was a v8 in the way tho) :thumbdwn:

Do you have to drill the bodywork to fit the strut brace?
