Another New Furby Owner

Featured Replies

Finally she is here and loving it!!

Have any new owners found the gearlever to rattle badly when very cold? This is the only quibble I have. Much more refined than my Peugeot 306 D TURBO HDI. Will be dropping the suspension very soon, my avatar already shows this modification.

Looking very nice!

I have found a slight rattle from the gear lever area, but have just lived with it. I don't find it bad enough to moan about.....................yet!

See you at some of the meets in the future. ;)

Looks nice mate :)

A word of advice dont be tempted to drop the suspension more than 35mm unless you have a never ending supply of new sumps. The TDi Fabia engine sits quite low and is very prone to damage.

Welcome to Briskoda!!!!

The Furbys are getting V popular now. It's a good sign that people npw realise Skoda make VW busting cars

glad you like your new toy m8, i just picked mine up tonight and i love it, didnt notice any rattle on the gear lever on mine

I must say the more I see of the Furby vRS the more and more I like it, well done chap on the purchase, just gotta wait for ours this Saturday.

You will only hear it on really cold days like -452 deg to 5 deg

Its not worth moaning about, but still there never the less.

Thanks for the replies.

I would be interested to see if anyone has lowered their car retaining the standard shocks. At this stage they are new and not worth changing. Can anyone advise whether the shocks will tolerate the drop in height and still manage t he UK roads keep the sump undamaged.

I will also soon be making some small stickers of Vrs to go just below the side indicator lights. Some times they are better done in larger amounts. I will look and design a nice one. Anyone interested?

I would be more interest in a nice rear screen "Yes its a Skoda" "www.briskoda.net" sticker ;)

I did this - eibach springs on standard suspension - and I can say although it was really nice at staying solid on cornering (I want no Wales comments...) it was quite unsteady when it came to uneveness (sp?) in the road. Along sharp undulations it would really bounce about and I used to get lots of bottoming out which made an awful BANG sound. In the end I can't say if this contributed to my accident - more driver error ;)

I would recommend changing the lot, which is what I'm doing with this car.

i just changed to eibach springs with standard shocks on my vrs and it handles well.

Tom.

My gear lever rattles when the car's cold and in neutral, but it's not worth moaning about unlike the oil leak from a misfitted rocker cover gasket. Still that should be easy for them to fix. Other than that I'm really pleased with it. It just a shame I've got to keep the mileage down till I get it fixed on Wednesday.

Thanks for the advice Jason. I would prefer the whole lot obviously, but I thought it would be a bit of a waste not using the original new shocks. I also dont want banging or bottoming out to occur.

I appreciate the response though

I've got Eibachs on order for mine and am going to use the standard shocks. I used the standard shocks with Pi springs on my old Fabia and had no problems at all unless on a really bad surfaced road. Going to wait till the shocks give up before I change them as I can't afford the shocks aswell at the moment!

If you are worried about your sump, cheap option is to pop to your Skoda dealer and order a sump guard :D

Well they have a sort of plastic sump guard anyway.

Graeme, for the diesel Fabia, get your dealer to look at illustration 18-05 on Etka. They are solid metal ones, listed by engine codes with one specifically for diesels. I've got one for my Octavia as a new sump, inc oil and all the bits for fitting is

My Furby also developed a centre-console rattle. I managed to trace it to the passenger side seat belt clip. There's a bit of play in the clip and it can be pushed up slightly sometimes. When I pressed it down, the "buzzing" stopped!
