In need of help!!

Hi Briskoda People!

Will try to keep this as short as possible. Bought my Fabia VRS in Dec 06.

53 plate. 1 year RAC warranty. MOT on purchase.

By first week in Jan 07 it was back at dealer for obvious binding of front brakes, duly replaced. Three weeks later it was back for the back brakes.

Starting in February the power steering symbol would come on and stay on unless I

turned the engine off and started again. Back to the dealer it went again. They told me

'the water pump had collapsed onto the impeller which had damaged the cam belt'.

All duly replaced under the 1 year warranty. On return and the same evening, yes you've guessed the Power Steering light was on!

Back it went again and this time I was told ' water in the wiring loom'. Complete new loom

would be

march down to the dealer and put a rocket up them...

I bet this is related to the wiring loom under the battery and above the wheel arch. It requires a new loom which is circa

When you say a known fault, subject to a modification by whom?? and what was the modification?? Any info greatfully received.

Pauline

iirc they made a new type of wiring loom without a 'trap' in the bottom that collects water.

Didn't think that effected the vRS though.

Really need a fault code to go on with regards to diagnosis of the PAS light.

It was a 2003 car that I know of had the problems.

IIRC= If I Recal Correctly

How long have you had it?! Is it possible to reject the car? If it's had continuous faults (and you seem pretty unlucky to me, I had one for two years and 80k, and had less faults..) then it's not fit to be used as a 'car' if it's off the road all the time, so a case for rejection under the sale of goods act?!

(or some agreement that ALL faults will be fixed by the dealer, or a replacement car found....)

and as someone else said, give trading standards a call for advice, they are very helpfull people, there contact numbers are on the help pages of autoexpress....

we got into the sale of goods act and trading standards big time with our new fabby that broke down 5 times in four months. it was a new one and we had a good dealer (Caffyns Ashford) so we didn't need to go down the route of suing... the actual thing to quote when talking tio your dealer is 'not of merchantable quality' ... 'not fit for use or purpose' only applies to someone selling a toaster to be used as a kettle!!!

with our fabia, we were given various courtesy cars until the matter was resolved.

don't put up with this just because it's a used one, you still bought a car to use as a car not to sit and look at it!!

best of luck

power steering light on and off, doe your headlights flicker too? this may sound strange but if you also get problems with the heating it is down to the thermostat, yea I know sounds cray but that happened with mine 1.4 2001 classic. Known comon prob
