DIY BHP chip - Don't do it!

Featured Replies

I have been running my 130 with a 20BHP over-fueling chip for five months and am now on my secound emmision light warning. Although I DID notice the extra power i have found out that they cause the fuel temp sensor to either go wrong or pull up the fault, this was designed exactly for this to stop people over fueling them. I have now taken it off and am awaiting my appointment at the Skoda service centre.

Jabba Sport can re-map your ECU so it will give you about 180bhp for

i allways wondered why vw didn't fit one of those diy chip thingies at the factory:rolleyes:

My DIY-style chip ran on my Fabia for 30k without logging any faults  Think the later cars had tighter tolerances though, but the light can easily be extinguished with VAG-COM.

or you could remove the bulb....

Or not fit one in the first place!

I've never been keen on such crude methods, if you want more performance, a good quality remap is the way to go!

I've never been keen on good quality remaps. Buying the faster car you should have bought in the first place is the way to go ;)

It's not the light that i'm worrid about, last time i had to get a new fuel temp sensor. So just turning off the light would not be the best idea.

It will log a fuel temp sensor fault as it will go out of parameters, doesnt mean the temp sensor is faulty though.

Should've bought a 2.5 V6 Benny boy:P
