Chips

Featured Replies

Hi,

Could any one advise me on re-mapping my Fabia Vrs please?

Also, do I have to wait until it's run in?

I'm a first time owner of a new car and a diesel, but I'm loving every min of it! :D

Many thanks

Yes. You should run it in for 2 or 3 thousand miles before re-mapping it, so I have read on here

It dosent matter, the ECU learns the setting in of the engine, while your driving, even if the car is chipped.

I work at VW-Audi-Skoda in Denmark.

The settings can be resettet by the use of a 5051, 5052 or 5053 Tester, maybe by Vag-Com.

It is in Motor(01) and Basic adjustment(6 i think is the number), and then block number 00, then it resets the leaned data.

Best Regards

Morten

He didnt ask that did he??

Nope, but its good info, if he has a vagcom.

I'm thinking of getting a Superchip and their fitter told me they do many cars (Audi, VW, Skoda) striaght from new but it is best to wait for a 1000 miles to see if any problems turn up before fitting.

You may want to seriously consider Jabba Sport.

Custom rolling road remap done for

You would be wise to consider that the walls have ears around here and in past experiances SUK are keen on refusing to warrant certain parts if the car is modified.

In terms of mapping - All out power is not the be all and end all, especially if you value your clutch so that shouldn't rule out superchips. Also they prove some sort of warranty which might interest you.

You may also wish to consider a switchable map on a new car as it will give you the abiltiy to switch back to stock mode when visiting people whom you may not wish to know that your car is mapped.

If the OP would like me to delete this thread then PM me.

If you're loving the car already, why are you considering a remap? A modified ECU will certainly result in more power, but are you willing to...

- Lose the SUK warranty (or parts of the warranty)

- Risk knackering the clutch (or at least ending up with clutch slip)

Up to you of course, but personally I'd rather have the warranty!

The Superchips man told me that in his expereince he has found that keeping power to 174 bhp or below is fine. When you get up to around 192 bhp there can be problems. If I go ahead I am going to have mine set at about 165bhp as I have an insurance quote for this power that is only

Why? If you get a Chip/Remap and still run your car in ... correctly, it won't make any difference..... Just better fuel economy.

I was told they like to have 1000+ miles to ensure there are no original faults i.e. the car is OK before changes commence.

Yup that's the reason. You need to be sure that the engine is running ok before chipping, otherwise you won't know the cause of problems if the arise shortly after the remap.
