VRS Registration

Featured Replies

Hi There I am a new Octavia VRS MK 1 owner

The car I have just purchased is a ex-police liason car.

What I noticed though is the log book states that the model type is a Octavia Ambente TDI which is very strange.

All the chassis numbers and engine numbers match up and all other details.

I actually spoke to the police about it and they said it happens quite frequently with there cars.

Can any tell me what the Log book should read for a Octavia VRS, or is it just that.

Thanks

Mark.

Ring DVLA....... give them the details chassis number etc and get it changed.....

This is a very common problem with the mk1, you will be surprised how many there are. Mine was the same, just sent the correction to the dvla along with the v5 and they issued a new correct one. I had mine changed to Octavia vRS.

Nothing to worry about, but it will cause issues if you use online insurance services like directline were the car model is got from the reg number.

Happens all the time when i log in to MOT cars on the computer system:( quite often the car im testing is not the same as the one on screen....... However i can change the details

Thanks for the responses folks. I did ring DVLA who stated they can change it but just was interested if this was common.

All I need to do now is also fix the dam cold starting problem where the car is really jumpy till it warms up. and also has the engine check light on as of yesterday. Got it booked in tomorrow for a diagnostics. Tried one of those VAG.COM cables and software could not get it to communicate.

Cheers,

mine to is registerred on the log book as a yellow ambeinte, although its definately a yellow VRS,

i havent asked the DVLA to change it though as ive been given horror stories of them carting your car away to do tests on it, if i ask them in the phone will they just alter it and send me out a new log book?

No they wont do anything over the phone they will definately want your original V5 before they will change anything but you can always phone them first to get advice

Again mine was down as the same but nothing to worry about as strangly most insurance companies have it down as an RS which is till wrong but closer to what it really is

my insurance company said that they only have the octavia rs down for 2001 and 2002 then it became an octavia vrs after that

Makes you laugh, its always been vRS here in the UK.
