How to: Clean Throttle Body

i cannot find an answer anywhere about resetting the throttle body after cleaning it, well i can but there are 2 different answers?

Is it:

1. Open the hood then open the driverside door.

2. Put the key in the ignition "on" position which is just before the start position

3. Walk towards the engine and listen to your engine. It will make high pitch beep for about 1min or so. You will hear your throttle body adjusting itself.

4. When all the sounds stops. Close the hood. Get in the car. Close the door then start your engine.

5. Wait about 20sec before you move your vehicle.

Or these settings on VAG-COM?

01. Engine

04. Basic setting

Channel 060 (098 on some older cars)

Let the readings run full cycle until "adp OK" is displayed.

Or both?? lol

Which is the correct way as i dont want to take it off and clean it if i have to use VAG-COM to reset it, i havent got it yet on my Laptop.

If i do clean it, and dont reset with VAG-COM, will the car still be ok to drive??

Cheers

I think the first is a bit of a wives tale. True when you open the door you will hear the throttle body move but there is no substitute for a Basic Settings adjustment with VAG-COM.

Thanks you, from Colombia !!!

There's a myth debunking video of the door open, ignition on thing somewhere on here. Basically it does squat. You need to use Vag-Com to do it properly.
