TUNING FOR FABIA 1.4MPI

Featured Replies

Is there anything that can be done for the above engine. All the stuff ive seen so far is for already fairly powerful engines, can anything be done to make this one a little chirpier. Let's face it for a 1.4 it sure is sluggish?

Anyone :?:

There a probably a few things you can do but gain would depend on the amount you want to spend.

Best bet would be to give someone like AmD, Awesome GTI and TSR a bell and discuss want you want and how much you want to spend.

I imagine you can get good gain but would have to go down the traditional tuning route e.g. porting and polish cylinder header, polished inlet manifold etc. Probably someone would do a remap as well.

Not exactly quick fixes.

AmD did a remap for my 20v Passat; gave approx 10% increase (125 to 136bhp).

I'm sure that someone does a sport exhaust system or a back box. Sprint do one for my wife's 1l Yaris  so something for the Fabia is entirely possible.

Sorry I can't be any more helpful but it should give a start.

Cheers.

Adrian.

Have a look in Tuning which is the Aftermarket section of our web links (on the left hand side of the screen).

Jetex make a free flow panel filter for the MPi as well as a direct induction kit.

There is also a sports exhaust listed on their website.

I would try this route first together with a live remap. You will probably get a 10% - 15% improvement.

Not a huge amount, but it will seem more eager and a bit more chirpy.

get cold air to it.

cold air is good (none too pretty) but makes the car shift a lot better

With work you can get 100 bhp out of the 8V 1400, go 16V and you can get 215 if you really, really want it
